Introduction |
The second event in the Infinite Diversity in Chicago league was 2E Virtual. I actually tried building multiple decks, but nothing really meshed until I looked at the new Bajoran shenanigans from Return to Grace. Now, I have never had great luck with Bajorans, but it is Virtual, so what the hell, right? With an Anthropology based mission set and all the Orbs and Accessions in tow, I decided to take a stab at getting some digital Blessings. |

Round 1 | | Maggie Geppert | MW (+70) |
If this tournament had been scheduled for January instead of now, I would have definitely played a deck much like Maggie's. Now you may ask, "Why January?" It is because that is when The New Resistance becomes printable. The Borg Dissisents really hinge on how awesome that event is. Maggie's dilemmas ended up taking me to time this game due to some very lucky random selections. |

Round 2 | | Justin Eaton | FW (+65) |
Justin was playing a Klingon Treachery build with some battle thrown in. With all of my discard pile shenanigans going at full force, I was able to get through my missions fairly easily. |

Round 3 | | Al Schaefer | FW (+35)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
As soon as I saw Al's mission selection, I knew this game was going to be a straight up horserace to 100 points. Al said that his deck was a modified version of the Hologram Academy deck that he played in our last league season and was going for straight Non-Aligned this time. He completed Liberate Photonic Servants on his first mission attempt even after hitting AIoT so I was on the defensive the whole game. Honestly, the game hinged on a clutch draw of Holding Cell after that attempt. I was trying to decide between taking Iden for skills or The Doctor for cunning and ended up just blurting out Iden. Thank God it was the right call and took the skills he needed to complete Settle Holographic Colony. This forced him to move to Investigate Unknown Element and TCS. All of this gave me the time to build a megateam and complete my missions for the win. |
Michael's running the new Bajorans with Orbs and stuff. I used 2x Deleted Subroutines on my first mission attempt to get past An Issue of Trust and WNOHGB, and felt that things were going to go my way again. I held onto Iden till I was ready to attempt Settle Holographic Colony, but a well played Greater Needs delayed my attempt. My dilemmas were holding off the Bajorans in Space and I thought I had a good lead until Michael played Holding Cell on Iden. Having used 2 of my 3 interrupts already, I had only to play for the mod-win since my only Leadership was now out of reach and my other two missions would only add to 95 points. The Bajorans finally finished in space and now had a sizable force to power out missions. I played as well as I could with the limited resources I had, but it was not enough and Michael came away with another hard fought win. |

Closing Thoughts |
Well, I admit that I am happy to win the tournament, but I am happier that I got all the Bajoran win achievements and don't have to play Bajorans again any time soon. I just don't mesh well with organized religions, I guess. I also cashed in even more achievements with this tournament since it ended up being my 10th tournament win and my 100th tournament overall. |
