Non-AlignedHirogenOTF DQ Hirogen - YaaM dose not Kill the DQ
Introduction
I was looking at the sign up roster for this tournament and thinking this is gonna be a good one, with some fellow players I had not seen a long time planing to attend; 6 world class players at least attending the competition was going to be fierce. I had 4 decks with me and had not decided which to play till the last minuet 2 of them were of course treaty achievement decks, one was the updated version of my Vancouver regional deck, and the one I decided to play my DQ deck that I still used for testing decks against. It's still around because I firmly believe YaaM dose not end the DQ it just balances them out. I have to say this was one of the most fun tournaments I've played in along time with such great players and friends attending even Todd Soper dropped by to visit, all in all a GREAT day.

Round 1BorgMarc BairesFW (+100)
Marc was one of the 2 unknown players, I learned he's a recent WA import from the CA bay area having just moved to the area it's been almost 2 years since Marc's last 1e tournament he was playing Borg, this had me a little worried as I knew my dilemmas were all skill based and thus weak to skill sharing Borg. I went first this game and my opponents lack of General Quarters meant I got a bit of a turn 1 splat not a huge one since the deck has been shifted away from massive turn 1 DL, then brought out Gen. Quarters on his first turn to force him to space his awakens out a bit. I started attempting missions soon and lost the Equinox to GOD, Gowron and a pile of Str. drones then came over and beat up on my stranded crew killing a bunch and thoroughly wiping out my mission requirements. I built up a second ship rescued the left over stranded survivors and solved for 55(-5 points dilemma). Marc was building up still, mean while I Iso Maged to get a deck back after failing a second god while trying to assist the cooperative. After getting another ship staffed I solved it and earned my TTP and 40 more points. The fully crewed Borg cube vanished in time, giving me plenty of time to solve my big space mission the one that can be worth 50 points which would bring be to 140 for YaaM proofing. Full Win 100-0. TTP didn't make me win this game but it ensured it was a blow out.

Round 2FederationJason DrakeFW (+30)View opponent's Report
Jason the Drake playing a TNG fed deck very lean very mean with some nice stall tec. and a K.M.S. to try and delay artifacts. I went first again a important matter this game as Jason in making his deck so lean had had to omit Ref cards this meant no Gen Quarters however I got a bad draw to doing to much DLing turn one and with his having self seeds my TMW had to be saved for Anij. We were both off and running VERY fast. Anij saved me from the first lost of orbital stability and later stopped O'Brian breaking my dilemmas :) It was a very close game no YaaM helped me this game as did his Nexis being in just the wrong place one his last turn, that and my out post and being at space with only space between it and my planet I needed for the win. TTP had i earned it could have been a help this game however after clearing a space mission first and then being sure he had no YaaM, the mission it was at would not have given me a win with out doing an extra mission so I ignored it.

Round 3FerengiKurtis CorreiaFW (+100)
Ah one of my local players that traveled down with me. After he dropped his missions it was obvious he was playing a new version of his brutal TNG Ferengi deck a deck that has beaten me in recent tournaments. Luckily this gave me some foreknowledge to it's tricks. ovoid planets until you have to then be rdy for that Ambush. Turn 1 I lost 6 personal to a dilemma combo at study proto-nebula but cleared the dilemmas. Kurtis got the Rakal shuffle of all Rakal shuffles basically never really seeing any personal and never powering up his Continuing mission draws. YaaM came out early but I just worked my way through my 3 space missions then went for one planet, the one least likely to have a Ambush I thought, I was right after losing 10 people to the fractured time there I still had requirements and solved for 140 points and the win.

Round 4KlingonJeremy CommandeurFW (+15)
Ah Jeremy and a rematch of the the final games of the 2011 worlds, this should be a good game. Jeremy was playing a strong TNG Klingon deck. We were both up and running purty fast he cleared a mission but had a bunch of people locked on a ship by the cloud, I then solved a planet and earned my TTP and made them vanish for 5 more turns, locking up some key people he needed to pass the walls at other missions. He eventually solved that mission and another space. But I was solving as well in the end i had to just wait out a Friendly fire for the last mission that would give me 140 points to bypass his YaaM and win, the friend fire ended the same time as the TTP on his ship did giving me the first attempt and the win. TTP flat out won me this game locking ruffly half his people out up for 5 turns meant he could not bypass enough of my dilemmas in time and gave me the game. YaaM was irreverent this game he would have beat me to 100 with out the TTP and I beat him to 140 with it.
