Can you dig it? |
Introduction |
This was a fun tournament. I was playing a deck with a 2 mission win strategy that used Digs for card draws / discard pile retrieval and the City of B'hala for encountering space dilemas in reverse order! |
|
Round 1 | | Kenneth Tufts | FL (-95)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Ken and I duplicated two missions (The two missions I was planning on doing), not only that but the spaceline was awkward for the both of us (high ranged missions in the wrong place). We had 9 sites on DS9!
My deck started fine, and I attempted Bajor on turn 2. When I declared the attempt Ken used a Q the Ref to get Access Denied (and flip it... which after reading the boards this morning I see that that might not have been valid [can't flip the hidden agenda in response to anything in the mission attempt]) and I ended up getting stopped by the last real dillema and unable to complete (only due to the increased Comp Skill requirement on the last dillema). Ken completed the mission on his next turn gaining his Time Travel Pod.
The Time Travel Pod sealed the deal for Kens victory. 5 turns not having access to a good chunk of my poeple meant I had a hard time passing his dillemas (needed skills/classifications lost to time travel)
In the end he won and I had 5 points from a plague ship. |
James my old nemesis and partner in deck building crime. Today he brought a interesting CArdi/Baj deck called Dig It, based around using Dig as a draw engine also using some triksy ways for a 1 mission win. We duped 2 missions and I didn't know yet but they were his key 2 for the win, also our DS9 ended up with 9 sites between the 2 of us! A Ferengi ingenuity + access denied combo stalled him at Bajor, and then I solved it earning both our artifacts, his starry night wasn't much use to me but my TTP would be; luckily for James when i earned it he had only a few people on a ship so he was able to be careful and only have about a 3rd of his people take the 5 turn trip to the future on a later turn. James started working his way though uncover DNA clues and I 2 turns in a row tripped a pair of Personal duty friendly fire combos, I just had to wait them out for the win. James with some of his people missing was having problems with my dilemmas and had only 5 points from a Plague ship when the last Friendly Fire ended and I got the win 100-5. |

Round 2 | | Julia Y-F Chen | FW (+100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
My seed of DS9 prevented Julia from getting her Terok Nor.
I had an awesome draw for this game. I didn't have to use my Bajoran Shrine to get my Archaeology x2 personnel.
On turn 1 I attempted and cleared all dilemas under our duplicated Bajor, but could not complete the mission. On Julia's next turn she commandeered DS9 with Elim but unfortunately didn't have the requirements available to complete Bajor.
My next turn I completed, with a mission specialist, and a subsequent Return Orb to Bajor (from the Orb I downloaded along with the City of B'hala from my Starry Night) for 50 points.
The turn after I went to my space mission, passed almost all the dillemas in reverse order (including a self seeded Barklay's) except for the first Seeded Gomtu Shockwave.
The next turn I was able to overcome the shockwave and win the game (thanks to the mission and Kivas Fajo being with my artifacts) |
another slow start.. WTF. This deck has a amazing drawing engine. Didn't have the right card to do anything. With james playing Deep Space nine I had to spend a turn to commandeer the station to convert it into Terok nor. |

Round 3 | | Kurtis Correia | FW (+70)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Kurtis let me go first in this game, and I eagerly took the chance to play first.
I got my setup started and quickly solved Bajor aquiring my artifacts and returning an orb.
Kurtis, with his boat load of personnel, attempted and cleared Search & Rescue (That was where I had put my Forsaken / Occupational Hazzards combo and he had TONS of treachery!).
After Kurtis got his first mission, I went to do my second and cleared through the dillemas in reverse order (though the last encountered Arsenal almost stopped me, but I got lucky that he didn't pick the uniques with my mission requirements) but I completed and I won the game. |
I let james go first in the match, which was a mistake apparently lol the sneaky and shifty trek player that he is lol. which was cool. He used some sneaky artifact the lets him deal with dilemmas backwards and snuck off a win!!!! |

Round 4 | | Barbara Copp | FL (-10) |
Barbara was playing a Delta Quadrant Dump deck and she went first.
It was a close game. Barbara wasn't having too many difficulties with my dilemas (but thankfully my Personal Duty / Friendly Fire combo slowed her down).
She had put a nasty combo under bajor and I couldn't get by the Founder's Secret, so I had to go to Cardassia (my backup seed spot for Starry Night).
It was such a close game that Barabara risked the In the Zone (which I did have) and completed more than 50 pts of missions in a turn.
In the end, Barbara won with me only lacking 10 points (from the HQ Return Orb to Bajor I didn't draw).
