Infinite Diversity Draft GenCon 2012 |
Introduction |
Infinite Diversity Draft event at GenCon 2012. Great times! |
|
Round 1 | | Matt White | MW (+35) |
Started out great hitting Matt with a first mission attempt cheap Unfair Terms and Inhumane Interrogation, followed by my turn of Ensnared stealing another of his crew. He BARELY is able to fly his ship back home to recover.
Toe to toe with Matt for the entire game, each of us hitting a wall of dilemmas. No missions won before time is called. I went first so, i finish my turn with a solid 35 points, as expected since we Matt had so many dilemmas beneath it. Matt's "bonus turn" looks like he will tie me with his 35 points as well, so I am comfortable with it... until the first card he plays is Raise the Stakes. Now I MUST stop him from completing his mission or else I lose! Cheap Pitching In, FTW!!! I stop him with a photo finish. |

Round 2 | | Matthew Hayes | ML (-35) |
Once again, my dilemmas were the star of the show, keeping Matt at bay even when things looked easy for him. I had a bad draw on my first set of dilemmas, and Matt knows that I have nothing to stop his 9 or more crew. First mission attempt is a walk for him. A second In Development followed by a Losira stalls. The Clown: Go Away, and Husnock Ship give him headaches enough to stop him from completing another mission. With stacks of dilemmas beneath two missions, and only the Clown and Husnock to help me, we run out of time, and I hold him off to only one mission.
...I forgot that I only have one Engineer in my deck, Doran, and forgot to save him from a kill dilemma... so I lose my only chance of being able to score more points. I can't let that happen again! |

Round 3 | | Nicholas Prawdzik | FW (+30) |
I go easy on Nick, only to find that his folks have more skills and higher attributes than I anticipated, netting him an easy mission, Transport Crash Survivors no less. The rest of the game I am forced to keep him at arms-leangth to victory.
In Development followed by a Losira easilly removes his Odo, while Ensnared ironically places his Miles O'Brien in jail. This turns his impressive array of skills to a minimum.
He stalls me all game, but slacks off during my last turn juuust enough to let me sneak away with two missions in my last turn! My only full win for the day! |
