Harvesters without a Crop |
Introduction |
So I had never played Vids before and decided that traditional format let me play all of their old tricks. |

Round 1 | | Michael Van Breemen | FW (+80)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
We seed in the mirror match
I try investigate quantam singularity on first turn, my self seed forces me to stop at the edo probe (since Michael is a notorious mission thief)., there is so much mirror action going on. But the edo probe, keeps me from going where I want to. So we are racing at liberation. Sleeper trap stoped. I clear liberation but he gets a free go. (but it will clear the edo probe)so he completes (with his cardassians) so he is at 20, but this opens the edo probe for me
./ gets stop[ed by in the pale moonlight.
I finish quanbtum singularity for 50
MVB goes after restore vitums
He is stoped by his own dead end. I am able to push through the next turn.

I played against Jon again (4th time in less than a month, go figure :) We duplicated 4 of 6 missions and he self-seeded at his stealable missions because he knew that it was me apparently... We were playing the same affiliation.
I solved a mission but loss 10 points to Edo Probe. |

Round 2 | | Kenneth Tufts | ML (-5)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
SO another tournament, another chance to play ken with a deck that is sorta his.
Another nice short spaceline only two unduped missions.
I DH for penk to try to use hajur to protect myself a bit from hirogen (he is reported via temporal m)
Fear of shared missions really slows us down.
He attempts first, but gets dead ended.
I stop all of his battle attempts via
I get through restore victims but he in the zone’s it for 50 points.
I miss the ¼ chance of hitting friendly fire right, balls so he solves for 45
I try to battle but I foget that kess has the gift.
One of the most strategic games I have played in awhile
I’ve wasted a few important turns
I complete study proto nebula, but am not conservative enough in protecting my crew. So he can come and personal battle, I suckwhy did I just not run farther. AHHHHH. This is going to be a massacre.
the battle doesnt end up so bad because my vids pair up with his strongest and I have two harvesters. I only lose 1 guy.
at the start of my turn we realize time might have been up already (meaning i would have had the MW) but we wernt sure so we decided to play one more. I rush at my one unduped mission. but I friendly fire stop and lose 5 points to a hazardous duty. the next turn Ken completes a shared mission for the 5 point win
In retrospect i realized based on where his ships were I knew there was only one mission he could do (assist cooperative) as the only other missions in range were A)completed, b) mine without dupilcation or C) at the far end of his range but with a scow under them. As such I would have got the tie if I had done nothing. or I could have used my TI to lock him off the only plannet he could really do.
either way it was a fun game full of lots of stratagy and fun

DQ Vids, losely based on my Vid deck, so we duped a few misisons (4) thisw made a short space line, Jon very smartly blew his TMW to bring Hajur doen as an hirogen to make it a lot harder to battle him. Lacky being a pita for me to sort out crews caused me to spend rediculess amounts of time trying to see if i could even build a crew for misison attempts the 5-7 dillemmas under the 4 duped didn;t help any either, Jon was havving similar issues, it was a very tight chess game of a match, he had to be carfull where Hajur was to prevent me battling him freely. Had this been an inperson gaqme i think we would have had np finishign in time but oh well. We both ended up useing Kes to jump the equinox away form a death from battle situatons. In the end it cacme down to gthe lats 2 turns on his he lost 5 points droping to 80 form 85 and i scored 45 to jump form 40 to 85 for the narowist of wins. |

Round 3 | | Matt Kirk | FW (+95) |
All four quadrants (even if the mirror is only a wormhole)
He goes first
He starts opening up a bunch of jemmies
Turn 1 I go at investigate quantum singularity, I stop with an edo probe
He frictions me, this probally adds at least one turn to the game as I am short a physics but it is in my hand
He kills a videan sent to medical crisis at aid fugitives
His first attempt is stopped by a scientific method
I am now two turns away from winning as long as he doesn’t win on the next two turns.
He hits personal duty combo next.
I finish talax, he ITZ’s to keep me at 80.
My dejaren stops him the next turn. So I finish.

Round 4 | | Stuart Marsh | FW (+100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Knowing his rep I am a bit nervous about lockout/battle, hopefully the tech I put in is enough if that is the case. He is playing a khan deck. And gets a good opening hand. Come on hope I get an inhibitor fast.
I threaten to blow up the reliant so he runs away with a STP. He resq’s the STP. I finish talax as he bring things together
He is moving a cloacked reliant around the DQ, I have an inhibitor as a bit of protection.
I attempt investigate quantum singularity, and have to the gift my way out of a V’ger.
But then I get my ship blown up since I am an idot and forgot to dock.
Spend a ling time rebuilding.
He mistimes his dimensional shifting, (went to try to steal a mission, but HQ def measures stoped him) so I am able to solve investigate singuality (with a crew full of khan’s friends on my equinox. . For the win.

A second delta speed deck. Jon was playing Vidiian/Equinox and like Will got off to a cracking start with 10 + personnel and soon solved one mission. He then moved to attempt a space mission and hit Maglock which delayed him for a while. Then he got his 3 x Officer (thanks to lots of Talaxian's) and attempted again. He hit my Chula the Chandra and then V'Ger - this worked and the Chula - The Chandra deskilled him enough for the V'ger to destroy his ship BUT he used Kes and the [DL] of The Gift to relocate away so not encountering the Dilemma (this is a trick I like to do with Out of Time!). BUT he forgot to dock the Equinox and I managed to attack and destroy the Equinox using the U.S.S. Reliant with Jo'Chim (+3 Weapons) and Make it so which allowed me to attack twice! Jon now had to start again from scratch (using a Isomagnetic Disintegrator) , but under the protection of Transport Inhibitors at his outpost there wasn't anyway I could get to him! I did have a plan though. I had a Dimensional Shifting, so as soon as he played a ship and boarded it I would play Dimensional Shifting to move over to his ship with Khan. I had quite a few personnel and realised I could steel one of his missions so I moved off to steel the mission (that same mission with V'Ger still under it) but he filled HQ: Defensive Measures, and next turn played the Equinox, boarded it, moved over and solved the mission for the win!
Timing of course was the issue as it went like this:
Jon - Moves the Equinox to the mission
Me - Plays Dimensional Shifting to move Khan and away team ready to Ceti Eel.
Jon - Attempts and Solves mission
So I couldn't Ceti Eel any of his personnel! Cursed timing rules :) |

Closing Thoughts |
HQ defensive measures ends up helping me in two games WOO. agaisnt MVB i seeded a scow under let he clera to it then flipped it. |
