Terok NorAsk Greg Hodgin about Jefferson, Georgia
Introduction
For this Regionals, I decided to try a new wrinkle on my favorite faction. Rather than go with a Terok Nor phase II dilemma mill, I decided to go for speed. The deck is designed to capitalize on destroying my opponent's events and generate points using Sense of Obligation + Preposterous Plan then flood the board with cheap [TN] personnel by burning the extra points with At What Cost and solve my missions with a little help from Ruling Council. Jefferson, GA is the county seat of Jackson County, with a population of just over 9,400 at the last census.

Round 1Hell's HeartScott BaughmanFW (+100)
Scott played a Kahn deck, which no one ever expects, so I was worried. Surprisingly, he wasn't using Historical Research, which was lucky as I went first. He had no events in play that I could target for destruction, but because my personnel are so cheap, I was still out and attempting by turn 4 with enough people to spare to fuel Ruling Council. A lucky draw of Journey to the Past on his Ceti Alpha V didn't hurt either. Jefferson, GA was named after Thomas Jefferson, and in 2016 it was designated the 15th safest city in Georgia. It recently fell from the top-10, probably due to a rash of car break-ins in 2015-2016.

Round 2RelativityNathan MiracleFW (+30)
This was the toughest win on the day for me by far. It was a slug-fest, and I can honestly say that had the match gone the other way I would have been okay with it. Once again, Nathan had no events in play for me to exploit, so that slowed me down, but I was still only a turn behind his Relativity deck in terms of attempting, so it was a real race. I ended up getting Insurrection on his Navigate Xindi Corridor, forcing him to abandon the attempt after two previous turns of trying, and it was this that most likely won me the game. Jefferson, GA is a picturesque Piedmont community with rolling hills and small farms dotting the landscape. It was named after Thomas Jefferson. The most notable historic feature in Jefferson is the Crawford W. Long Museum. Dr. Crawford W. Long performed the first surgery using ether as an anesthetic, in Jefferson on March 30, 1842.

Round 3RelativityGreg HodginFL (-25)View opponent's Report
There are no sushi restaurants in Jefferson, GA. However, you can catch a game at Beef O'Brady's (maybe Clemson will be playing) or sample the excellent country-fried steak at Jefferson House. Greg was also playing a Relativity deck, and this one had all the tricks: Original Thinker, Chuckles brothers, Field Studies, etc. But, I held me own and gave Greg a match. A devastating random selection destaffed by spare ship on an early mission attempt (I was actually out and attempting first this time thanks to destroying Greg's Surprise Party and using the SoO + PP + AWC combo to spend 14 counters in one turn). It took me two turns to recover, and that was enough of a margin to cost me the game. A well-played match as always.

Round 4John D CoxFW (+50)
John was playing a TOS solver with dilemma support from Conscience of the King. It was a good deck. But, in the end, the new Dukat's ability to gain a much-needed Geology from a removed dilemma proved to be the deciding factor as John had only one planet dilemma left to throw - Captain's holiday. A good game. Jefferson, GA recently engaged the Carl Vinson Institute, through a GMA grant, to revitalize its downtown corridor. Maybe they'll finally get a sushi restaurant?

Closing Thoughts
The deck performed well. I would play it again, even without the SoO + PP + AWC dynamic. It's fast and has the element of surprise. An addition of a Moral Choice or two might well have carried the day for me, so I will consider that in future. The police in Jefferson, GA would never think about wasting 40 minutes of your time searching your car after claiming you didn't use a turn signal when turning into a gas station off the interstate. In Jefferson, GA, they respect your 4th Amendment rights, unlike in Duncan, SC. Maybe the police in Duncan should meet with Chief Wirthman of Jefferson for some apparently-needed pointers. I hear Chief Wirthman is a great guy! If you don't believe me, just ask Greg Hodgin. He'll tell you.
