World Dominion Side Event Day 1 |
Introduction |
Day One of Worlds was exciting and fun, even if I was a little worn-out and disappointed in my deck's performance. The venue is excellent - I wish we had one like it in Atlanta. And, as always, Rick put on a stellar event. For the side event, I have continued to test my "mill by glut" theme for Dominion, using Keevan and Hollow Pleasantries to overload my opponent's hand and then punish them for it with Crippling Strikes and a discard-themed dilemma pile. |
|
Round 1 | | Amber Van Breemen | FL (-65) |
Pitted a against a Voyager deck with Chakotay shinanigans, her deck just proved to readily able to cope with my stops. Plus, my draw deck never really got up and running. |
|
|
Round 2 | | Steve Nelson | FW (+45) |
Romulan shenanigans, I've seen this before and I was prepared for it. Even though I managed to squeek by, the deck still didn't kick off as I intended. I only won this round because I was very familiar with my opponent's deck-type. |

|
Round 3 | | Tobias Rausmann | FL (-100) |
I faced a net-deck of a championship-deck from Europe played well, and I got destroyed! I need to learn more about this deck, and it was well-played by a competent player. |

Closing Thoughts |
In all three rounds, the draw deck and dilemma pile felt like they were just *this* close to working out. I still think there's potential in this theme, but it needs work. Maybe add some copies of Dreamer, and thin-out the draw deck. next time...watch out for battle. |
