Re-entering the DMZ after 6.1 years |
Introduction |
Same deck deck I used at MN regional and 6.1 years ago. Basically use Biogenic Weapon / Strange New Worlds combo to lock out an opponent of either planet or space missions. Then either use Organized Terrorist Activities to remove Anthropology, Diplomacy or Law, whichever skill has the least amount. |

Round 1 | | Kris Sonsteby | FL (-35)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
This game is real close. I play BW early, but I never draw SNW or an Amaros to download one. After I play OTA, I remove one of only 2 Law in his deck. Getting SNW would ensure a lock-out with my Cascade Virus preventing his other Law to come into play. With each of us completed 2 missions, I finally draw Amores. If I stop Kris completing his next attempt, I lock him out. Sadly, My Issue of Trust is bypassed, and two random kill attempts fail to kill his only remaining Treachery. |
The Full Nelson was again rocking Maquis, and was gifted a mission when I wrongly assumed the Cosette could be tagged by Outclassed. Despite putting myself in a hole, Enabran Tain had me attempting on turn 3 and I blew through both my planets despite a fair amount of killing. With the game on the line, Central Command smashed an Issue of Trust to steal the come from behind win. FW 100-65. |

Round 2 | | Preston Holida | ML (-5) |
This game my lockout strategy doesn't work. I get BW and SNW in play, but after using OTA, I notice multiple skills of Anthropology, Diplomacy, and Law. My kill dilemmas slow him down, but a lucky 1 draw dilemma on Preston's part slows me down a turn preventing a better chance at a win. |

|
Round 3 | | Zlatan Terzic | FW (+100) |
I get BW and SNW in my opening hand. OTA is played soon after and I remove his only Law in his deck. With no event destruction in his deck, Zlatan has no chance of a full win. |

Round 4 | | Keith Rupp | MW (+5) |
In this game I barely get the lock-out before he completes a space mission. Keith suffers from Shankaar and 2 OTA's removing his only 2 Law peeps in his deck. This happens three straight turns. His dilemma pile slows me down enough to only complete 1 mission. After time was called and the dust settled, I squeak out a 40-35 MW. |

Closing Thoughts |
In the last round, I had a 50/50 chance to play Nate instead of Keith. If I played him and won, Keith or Kris would have won the tournament. I know after our game, Keith would have preferred me playing Nate instead of him. One of the big (what if's). |
