Re-entering the DMZ after 6 years |
Introduction |
As my deck title says, I decide to use my Maquis mission lockout deck which I haven't seriously used in 6 years. I use a All-Consuming-Evil pile that in all my 15 years playing STTCG 2nd edition, I have never used once. |
|
Round 1 | | Hawkeye1989 | FW (+95) |
With only one space mission, I target it with Biogenic Weapon forcing him to do three planet missions which my kill pile can do serious damage to. Attempting his 1st mission with 14 peeps, I slaughter his away team killing all mission skills. I complete my 3 missions even though his Adopted Authority slows me multiple times. |

Round 2 | | Jeremy Huth | ML (-30) |
This game was all out crazy. With 2 space missions out, I Bio-Weapon and use Strange New Worlds to lock them out. I play Organized Terrorist Activities to filter out skills (Law) and notice multiple copies of Olarra in his deck (About 8 or 9). With this revelation I call the TD for a ruling which takes about 5-10 minutes to figure out. The ruling was I get an extra turn and his deck needs to fixed. This delay probably cost me time in completing a second mission for a mod win. With my last attempt I hit Hard Time and he gets Santos. Having double skills in the away team, he was the only one I couldn't lose, But a lucky 1 in 7 random pick loses him thus I'm short 1 strength to completing. (no Santos, no boost) Extra time would have helped since my lockout made it impossible for him to do space. |

Round 3 | | Jeremy Benedict | FL (-100) |
I see Jeremy missions and know against a Relativity deck that I have pretty much lost. With Temporal Transporters reviving his killed or discarded peeps, I can't remove the skills needed with Dukat to stop Jeremy completing SNW because of Metron Arena. Although I delay him a little with Shankaar and Cascade Virus 1 of 2 Seven of Nine's, TT just makes my kill pile delay him instead of locking him out. |

|
Round 4 | | Harry Benjamin | FW (+65) |
This game almost everything wrong goes against Harry. Shankaar hits 1st turn. I Bio-Weapon and SNW his space missions. I CV 3 of his drones early slowing his game. On his 1st attempt on a planet I slaughter his away team thus destaffing his ship. By the time he gets another ship and crew, he does manage to complete one mission. The delays give me time to have completed 2 missions by then and nearly have a third done. |

Closing Thoughts |
Relativity was the only deck I couldn't effectively beat, and there were two of them being played in this tournament. Next time I try this deck, I need a way to stop Temporal Transporters. Though it might take another 6 years? |
