The Acquiring Klingons (Continentials Version) |
Introduction |
4 Players = A Round Robin Tournament - With tons of stuff DragonCon stuff to do our Block Tournament would be our lowest ST CCG attended event of the Con due to its timing. However, that wouldn't mean it wouldn't be a blast. |

Round 1 | | Scott Baughman | FL (-65)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
The match was going as normal until Scott captured my Gowron which significantly hurt my low number of Klingon Diplomacy personnel. I hit a combo of Scott's that specifically required Diplomacy and I was hard stopped. I never would recover from him taking my Gowron. Scott plowed thru my combos for the FW. Wow ! - The Ferengi are very very strong in Block and when played as flawless as Scott did in this game they become unstoppable. Great Game Scott. |
Ryan's Klingons had trouble with my Diplomacy and Leadership heavy dilemma combos, especially after I captured Gowron early on with a Cardassian Procedure! Meanwhile, my Ferengi we're doing great against his dilemma combos thanks to Capt. Picard and Data, whom I downloaded with Seek Out New Life (thanks Dr. Christopher via Assign Mission Specialists!) I cruised throw even Gomtuu after I got enough Diplomacy and encountered it at my Outpost mission with Secure Strategic Base on it. |

Round 2 | | Jeremy Norris | FW (+25) |
Jeremy and I had traveled together and this was his first Block Tournament. Both he and I had played each other at my house a couple days before and I knew he would be tough. The game went with out battle and we both went out going for dilemmas. We both were plowing thru each others dilemma combos. I had one mission left to solve and I was worried about Jeremy seeding one of the dilemmas that were -5 points which would not have allowed me to win and I knew Jeremy would win on the next turn. I attempted with just few enough personnel to not loose the 5 personnel and I had 2 Biology for Mission Crisis and I went right thru the combos for the win. Yikes ! That was close. |

Round 3 | | Nathan Miracle | FW (+70) |
A rematch of the last Block Tournament in Mint Hill, NC. Nathan had changed one card in his deck since then and I had changed one card in mine since then. He left his Battle Bridge Side Deck out and I left my Ferengi Trading Post out. That would probably be what won me this game. I knew that I probably would not be able to beat him outright because we had duplicated all of my Space missions and there were about 8 dilemmas under each. I knew I had to go after him with my ships. Every where he moved I would move and attack for the 5 point bonus from the IKS Pagh and then unstop myself with my 2 Make It So(s) I had seeded. I kept him on the run and fighting me. Nathan not having the Battle Bridge was what probably cost him the game. I eliminated his fleet and left a couple of ships at his outpost and I went out and attempted missions for the win. |

Closing Thoughts |
A cool tidbit - Jeremy went 1-2 in this tournament. The one victory he had was against the winner of the Tournament Scott. Block is a really fun format. The great thing about it is anyone can win and one deck can dominate another but can be susceptible to the strengths of another deck. Lesson Learned: Depending on the affiliation you are playing against you might want to change your strategy both for both dilemmas and seeding. |
