RelativityRelativity 3-2013
Introduction
My First pass at a Relativity deck wasn't too bad. Test runs indicated the deck would have to be large. Discarding 2 cards to Replicate Temporal Transporters very important, especially the personnell cards discarded are then valid targets for Temp Trans. The deck needed more Security and Law (two characters had Law with Richard Galen bringing a possible third.) Uninvited interrupt used in every game. Bridge Officer Test never used. I would add Ohhh Nothing Happened as every other card was the activating Temporal card. Also, add one or two more equipment. My Dilemma pile was too big, but worked well. I would get rid of one of the Outmatched and add Secret ID and another Insurrection (people are still using those low attribute missions a lot) and do some other general tuning. Despite the heavy discarding I never got enough in the discard pile to activate Back to Basic's stop, so I never used it and would cut it. Went first in every game so I couldn't use Hist. Reas. I would have got Chakotay and discarded him so I could Temp Trans. him, and use These are the Voyages to mill, but never got to do that once.

Round 1Mel_The_PenguinMW (+35)
First game vs a begining player using a Cardassian Groumall strategy. The game went to time since much of the time was taken reading and explaining how the cards worked and what the wording meant. I lost James T. Kirk to Ensnared. There was a question on whether the Relativity would wipe him away at the start of the next turn since I still commanded him and it was judged that he was in play for uniqueness only and wasn't wipeable. Mod Win with two Missions solved and time called. Since time was called and Mel went second I just had to stop him at his planet mission, used Uninvited to get Outmatched then threw my whole Dilemma pile under the mission. Ummmm, do you have cunning greater than 400??

Round 2StarfleetJohn WalchleFL (-65)
Second game vs a Starfleet mission solver. I played really badly, when I got to chose who to stop I stopped Revised Chakotay not realizing he was my only Security thus failing my mission attempt. Then he got stopped on the next two mission attempts and I just kept forgetting to get another Security on the ship. Got to use Disconcertin Displacement to send Samuels to join an away team. Couldn't target him with any of the Dilemma's to get him out of the game, though.

Round 3Chris JonesFW (+100)
Third game vs Founders Homeworld with Jem Hadar and Non-alinged pers. Got Insurrection on one of his low attrib missions and kept stopping one or two vital pers. per mission attempt. Chris never seemed to get any momentum and didn't solve any missions. This game was the first time I've encountered Repressed Message and it took me some time to figure out what to do. The top Dilemma was Overburdened which made it extra confusing. Thankfully Revised Chakotay proved his worth yet again.

Round 4Terok NorJoshua SheetsFW (+70)
Fourth game vs Josh's Terok Nor Cardy/Jemmy deck. Josh was attempting Kressari Rendvous. I stopped him on the first attempt, despite my playing Oh No to make him lose 5 points, but . . .he . . .didn't. . . have . . .any points to lose. Grrr. On his next attempt I use Uninvited to get Insurrection on the mission to make it harder. On the next turn I throw Strange New Worlds on the mission making it even harder. (Awww, too bad Josh had to use two of his Our Deaths is Glory to Founders on my Temp. Trans.) On his last attempt I get the Equip. Malfunction Dil and even though he solves he can't get any extra points from weapon discarding. Moving on to Josh's planet mission he attempts with 11 pers. I draw Fractured Time, Harsh Conditions and the new Workforce. I throw those three out and he seem surprised with only three, but he gets it when I name Physics for Harsh Cond and then Workforce gets turned over making an automatic stop. Joel is walking by and is surprised by Workforce and asks how that got past the playtesting I say I don't know, but I'm going to make use of it. I manage to solve Seek Savior despite my low Law and go on to solve my planet mission to win the game. Man what a fun game that was. Playing against Josh is always cool no matter who wins.

Closing Thoughts
Rather surprised I came in second. The deck doesn't feel that strong. Took a Future Icon Button and got a foil The Play's the Thing which is kinda funny since I didn't even use one in my deck, despite the thinking it would be important, but testing seemed to indicate it would get in the way and I took it out. THANK YOU STEVE, for taking the time to run the tournament. You did an excellent job!!
