Pat Bortz (bortz65) Tournament Report - 2E 2016-01-02 - 01:00 PM The Asterisk War 1-2016 Introduction I wanted to try a different type of Dilemma Pile and basically used Robert Dawson's Dilemma pile with some adjustments. This is a High Cost Romulan deck with as many cards I could find that would reduce the Personnel Cost as much as possible. I had the Pegasus Search Mission so that my Opponent couldn't easily use Dilemmas that targeted Mission points. Round 1 Sean O'Reilly FW (+30) Versus Sean's Genetically Enhanced Khan Deck. He was using Species 8472 Dilemmas and Terrasphere 8, Starfleet Command Re-creation Mission. I was able to keep him on the Planet for a while. I removed most of his cards from the Discard pile with Dukat and even got his ship, but forgot to take out the ship I had in my Discard Pile. This is the first time I have ever used all three Hard Times in a game. Sean got enough Species 8472 Dilemmas in my core to activate the Terrasphere, but couldn't get it solved in time. I had a Full Win. Round 2 John Paul Veasey ML (-45) Versus John's Terok Nor deck. John got War of Attrition out early and by the end of the game both Dilemma Piles were getting kind of slim. We both got Personnel with Soul Searching, but I also hit him with a couple Hard Times. My big mistake was I flew to the Stalkovan Strait space mission, but didn't have any Astrometrics and didn't play my second ship to shuttle Personnel around, so I spent more time on that Mission than usual (also I forgot to check if John was paying an extra cost for Dual Dilemmas.) I was using Dukat Pah-Wraith puppet to place John's cards put of play, but he had the Metron Arena in play. It had been awhile since I'd really looked at the text on the card and I didn't realize I could have used Dukat on personnel John already commanded. Couldn't move fast enough and time was called with John having a Timed win. Round 3 Bye BY (0) Bye. Sat and watched John and Sean play. Round 4 Ross Fertel FW (+60) Versus Ross's Equinox deck. I played real sloppy: played dilemmas and realized there was a Space Dilemma on a Planet Mission. Forgot to keep checking the Stalkovan Strait Dual Cost. Forgot who was in play. Gave Kamala Physics for We'll Never Know then Chose her to take the stop something and encountered We'll Never Know. Did remember to use Alvera Tree Ritual to get Ross to shuffle his Dilemma pile to bury a Rogue Borg Ambush that the Ptol Personnel revealed. Closing Thoughts The Dilemma pile was pretty good, but Flim-Flan Artist was completely useless. 1 Polywater Intox was enough. I really wanted to use the new Anachronistic Deviation, but Opponent's Personnel always matched. An Issue of Trust really bones Khan and Equinox decks. MVP Dilemma today was Hard Time. MVP Personnel were Ptol and Kamala. Kamala's Skill gaining ability came in really handy shoring up Skills I needed more than one on and Integrity helped the generally Low Integrity the Romulans typically run.
