Alexander senses a trap 1.1 |
Introduction |
Sensing A Trap to hopefully give me a 2 mission win! I felt pretty confident in being able to name key cards, plus with enough ways to look at opponents hand, that I could either score points or stall an opponent from playing what they should be playing. Problem is, most players decided to stall rather than give points, so it turns out this deck has a really hard time getting full wins. |

Round 1 | | Steve Hartmann | MW (-10)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
I knew Steve's deck moves fast, and mine runs slow. He had his first mission done before I'd managed to draw a ship, but fortunately I was able to get through my first mission quickly to make it a game. Evil Dukat removed alot of stuff from his discard, Deep Hatred got rid of Covenant, plus Sensing A Trap meant I was limiting his options. In the end both our decks were slow, each had finished 2 missions, but I get a timed win thanks to 10pts from Sensing A Trap. |
Playing Matt first up was not my ideal first round game. Both Matt's deck and my deck take time to setup. Turns out I wasn't paying enough attention because I let him solve on his first mission attempt as I assumed his integrity was not that high -- WOOPS (poor dilemma draws didn;t help)! This was likely the difference in the game because I couldn;t solve my third mission (getting stranded with two space solved). Another issue I faced which would have fixed everything was drawing into Sisko but I just couldn't find him. I am pretty sure we timed out on turn 8 or 9 demonstrating the sheer amount of time that Guidance and Quintessence chew up. If we had another five minutes we would have likely had a FW one way or the other. |

Round 2 | | sstevens | MW (-15) |
Got an early 20pt lead by Sensing A Trap on Kurdon, as his Ferengi were getting restless to start doing missions. Rule of Acquisition #6 probably hurt him more than helped, as it meant he couldn't draw new cards before playing anything, and I usually knew what he had. Another timed win, as again my deck was unable finish enough missions. |

Round 3 | | Smiley | ML (+30)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Mike's Relativity is pretty similar to what I'd been playing, so I was actually able to do some good skill tracking this game. Unfortunately I still made some dilemma play mistakes, plus my crew was completely incapable of actually doing a mission. But hey, 120pts from Sensing A Trap, and still losing! |
I built my deck after seeing Matt's deck do awesome stuff. That also meant he knew everyone in my deck. Luckily, his guys just couldn't pass a lot of dilemmas. But his varied events made life difficult for me. Eventually we worked down to a timed win. |

Round 4 | | Jason Conlon | FW (+100) |
Jason had to leave part way in, so it's a free win for me. I'd managed to score 20 Sensing A Trap points before then, and had a fairly decent board at that point, so I should have done OK in this game. |

Round 5 | | Kieren | FW (+100) |
Managed to hit 2 of Kieren's range 6 Starfleet ships with Gomtuu at his first mission to strand them, which turned out to be too harsh for him to recover. For the first time all day, I get a full win with 2 missions and 30pts from Sensing A Trap in this one. |

Closing Thoughts |
This is a hilarious deck, and it did far better than I expected at a Regional. |
