Hey, Where'd They Go? |
Introduction |
I don't have the memory for game details that some do, so this will just have highlights that I can remember. Overall, it was a fun day, and I learned about a new type of deck. I think this was the first time I've tried capture, or any interaction for that matter. The deck moved more slowly than I thought, and I found out what cards were useful and which were just sitting there waiting to be discarded. Also, the Capture/Persistent pile wasn't stopping enough overall; perhaps a kill pile would be better to slow the opponent down as well. |

Round 1 | | Al Schaefer | FL (+55)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
I managed to capture 7 people, including the Borg Queen and Locutus! Caretakers Guest + Evek getting replayed after put on Hard Time = fun! However, the Borg had too many tricks, and were able to overcome even the loss of their fellow Drones and fearless leader. |
The last time Amber and I played was at Heat 2 of last years GenCon where she won. Before the tournament I loaned Amber a Grav Plating Trap for her deck. Then when I saw she was playing Kressari Rendezvous with Cardassians I expected quite a flurry of event destruction from her side of the table. I used some Borg shenanigans to get Fourth quickly and play 2 copies of Quintessence. I continued to download at will as Amber struggled to get her deck rolling. I was fearing The Central Command and over-played dilemmas at times, but she only got to play one copy of the interrupt and the extra dilemmas didn't come back to bite me in the end. |

Round 2 | | Brian Leonard | FW (-25)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
This was a close game, Brian was rocking a TNG integrity deck. With some well-timed The Dreamer and the Dreams, he managed to wipe out a good part of my Prison Compound/Labor Camp stock. I abandoned most of that strategy, and went for 3 missions. The massive drawing trying to find another Central Command was a good thing though: At my final mission, I faced a Hard Time and then Tactical Disadvantage. He had ships in hand with 20 weapons, however I had 3 Cardie ships in hand for shields 24, and that made the difference. Unless something weird would have happened, I think he was going to win next turn. |
This was another close game. She got through a Tactical Disadvantage for the win. I possibly could have won the next turn. |
|
Round 3 | | Mike Burke | FL (+65) |
Voyager with multiple-per-turn Finding Our Way downloads, using Seven to look at the top cards between each, makes for a slow start on the other side as well. He got rid of two of my three Secret Identitys with ONH; however on his first mission attempt my third made itself known & got Seven out of the attempt. Another copy of her also ended up in my Brig :) Then the speed of a set-up Voyager deck made itself known, and he quickly made it through two missions. |

Round 4 | | Steve Nelson | FL (-70) |
I managed to capture a couple personnel early on, including Hiren to slow down the bonus point machine; however, my bonus points from Labor Camp were the only I scored. A few run-ins with a bad Infection wiped out a couple of my attempts, and his Romulans were running strong on the way to a win. |
