My heart jumped when I saw Derrick's deck, since it looked just like my brother's. In execution it was a bit different since this one included the past Klingons (which I don't own), but it was still good to see Riker and the Sword out there.
Derrick got Riker out early and started rolling the past personnel. He played a cheap ship and began mission attempts early, but I managed to stall him pretty well at his space mission.
Meanwhile I got an ideal crew out and began attempting my missions. Derrick hadn't yet seen Kirk, Living Legend in play, so he was caught off guard when Kirk blew threw a wall and gave me my first mission.
Derrick eventually cleared his first mission, but by that point I was already on my final one. I got To Boldly Go into play and felt pretty good about my odds of completion. I split my personnel into two parties- the first party failed but got some dilemmas underneath. The second party had both To Boldly Go and NE Riker, so I felt good about my chances. He played The First Law and my heart nearly stopped, but then I saw that it was a space dilemma and couldn't be played (and his other dilemma was too high of cost) so I completed the mission. I was glad I did it on the turn I did, because I wasn't confident in my dilemmas' ability to stop a sword-boosted group. |
