Tournament Report - 2E - Qo'noS Regional
2013-05-25 - 02:00 PM
CardassianStolen Cargo Ship
Introduction
So this is my 2nd 2E Regional tournament I did, which is also my 2nd 2E tournament I've ever done. Funny how things work? Thank you to Ross for letting me borrow his deck, which he borrowed from MVB. Overall, I can't complain as I placed third. I became more and more familiar with the deck as I played it. If I had to change anything, I would tackle the dilemma pile a bit differently. A few cards worked out great which I would keep in it, but I would definitely change some others around that just seemed useless (no offense) against my opponents. Of course it could be the Cleveland meta and what I saw and just what was played wasn't the usual suspects.

Round 1TNGJames BookerFL (-90)
James just destroyed me. I was spending too much time learning the deck, but also I couldn't draw a ship until like turn 7 or 8. Everything was at the bottom. By then, I was a planet (plus bonus points) behind and it didn't take long for James to finish me off. Couldn't do anything successful this turn.

Round 2FerengiPat BortzFW (+35)
Pat was real nice in letting me take my time with the deck still. We had a few questions throughout the game and he was more than willing to explain things to me. Or we'd interrupt Sean and ask him...HA! Central Command is definitely a great card with this deck. I like that flavor. Feel I could definitely develop a strong deck with it and do some powerful things with it. I used it all three times on Pat, he managed to cancel one mid game. Last turn I had to solve one more mission (space options were all that was left) so I took my two ships and red shirted the first one with like 12 guys to get as many cards as possible underneath the mission. Then I could solve it with just six guys and he could only draw one card when five cards were underneath it.

Round 3DominionFerengiRoss FertelFW (+25)View opponent's Report
This was funny playing Ross with the deck he lent me. I had trouble getting ships again, at least a ship I didn't already have in play. Groumall is a great card, but not when you draw it as your only ship. He took an early lead and I was trying to play catch up. I finally got another ship and divided my ranks into two teams and attempted two missions my last three turns. I had stocked up on all three of my Central Commands in my hand just so I could blow through everything if needed. I had 10 cards in deck on my last turn. I managed to finish off one mission and then fly them over to the other team. Again I just redshirted with a lot of guys to put as many missions underneath as possible. Then sent in my team of six to solve it and when he had stopped two of my guys, I Central Commanded past his one dilemma and had 35 cunning to the needed 34 cunning to win the game...woot woot!

Round 4ByeBY (0)
No round #4...it was already 7:30PM...long day hahaha.

Closing Thoughts
I am starting to gain more and more knowledge of 2E. It is a fun game, I do enjoy it. I do love my Cardassians a lot and a lot of these cards are printable, so I will probably try to sit down one day and make a deck. I see a lot of good things with Central Command. I would definitely relook at the dilemmas and see what I could twink out of that. Maybe throw in a couple of more ships (because you can discard them to make personnel and Groumall more powerful so its okay anyways). I find if you can't get a ship out by turn 4 to start solving, you're in big trouble trying to play catch up. Plus swarming at the end is fun! Thanks again to my opponents and to Ross for letting me borrow the deck!
