Planet Voyager Jr Jr Hand-cuff Edition v1.1 |
Introduction |
I went with the TRiH I played a while ago, but didn't take the time to reacquaint myself with the nuances of the deck. I think my lackluster performance was a pretty accurate result of this oversight. |

Round 1 | | Corbin Johnson | TT (0)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Corbin was also playing TRiH and it was a full hour of relearning how to play and trying to not make an oversight. Ultimately, we came to a stalemate, but Corbin was playing a TRiH specific dilemma I hadn't seen before, so I'll have to go back some time and add them to the deck. |
Al and I mirror matched and as I'd never even played my deck before, I definitely stumbled to begin with. I forgot to download a ship with Khan and had to do some Vendetta / One man can summon the future shenanigans to get my ship in the discard pile. I did like the Unfair Comparison dilemma deck which I also had never played before. That's some stupid jenk and I'm wondering why I've never played with it before. |

Round 2 | | Maggie Geppert | ML (-30)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
I went first in this game and had a major gaff by not using Kahn's ability to preload my discard pile with a ship. I had a good start in this game solving Ceti Alpha V well before Maggie had a ship, but wasted several turns digging for the Alpha Flyer to discard. Maggie made the best use of her time and secured a lead I couldn't come back from. |
Al got out ahead of me but forgot to use Khan to get a ship in the discard pile. I used Reyga to get out of Inequitable Exchange one turn and Intimidation (I think) on the next to finish Acquire Illicit Explosives. I completed Geological Survey to get the mod win after time. |
|
Round 3 | | Brian Leonard | FL (-35) |
I was able to stall Brian at Caretaker for quite some time, even getting a WNOHGB off. But he did the same to me at Ceti and was able to edge out a victory with his ability to decrease my drawing/spending of dilemmas. I was close to solving the Genesis Planet, but a timely final dilemma draw prevented my victory. |

Closing Thoughts |
I was able to play more in 2017 than in the last two years, but I feel that my commitment to playing the game is at an all time low. I still love to play, but the effort that goes into being able to play well is far less attractive than it ever has been. I did manage 3 tournament wins this year, and a third place finish at Nationals. Definitely looking forward to Excelsior events in 2018. That's a format I've been hoping for for a long time. The CC can make their own little timeline based on the outcome of events. I hope it's well planned out, and well accepted by the players. |
