KlingonRomulanID Draft - Dual HQ Rainbow
Introduction
Time for our annual draft event. I didn't take any time to review the card pool and had no real plan going into the draft. All the 35 point missions seemed pretty tough, either skill sets that required 2 of one skill, or more than 34 attributes, or both. In the end, I had a slight edge in personnel and ships with Klingon and Romulan so I focused on those and every non-aligned I had.

Round 1TOSMichael MoskopFL (-30)
Mike went all in on TOS and got off to a pretty good start. I used my first action to download a ship. We both traded pretty fortunate random selections and I came up just a skill short on my first attempt at a planet. We were pretty evenly matched, but in the end Michael came out on top.

Round 2StarfleetEric BiecheFW (+70)
Eric went all in on Starfleet and that was the one affiliation I tried to stay clear of. It just seemed like they had lower stats than the other affiliations and lots of skills overlapping. I got Armus Roulette to go off in this game and was just able to keep Eric from completing any missions. I really had to slow things down because I did not manage my HQ's very well, I had played a bunch of people to Romulus, but only had one Klingon in play to staff my K'Vort. In the end, it didn't matter.

Round 3KlingonStarfleetMaggie GeppertFW (+70)
Maggie missed an early equipment play and I got through my first planet attempt by getting past her Contaminating a Culture. She slowed me down with a Clown Go Away on my next mission, as well as Delerium. I pulled off a sweet dilemma stack in this game that involved Distraction and Aftermath - totally something I would never play in a constructed event, so it was cool to see it actually work in the draft. I eventually got the win after a hard-fought game.

Closing Thoughts
Draft is great, it's got some issues, but it allows for a lot of interactions and card plays that you don't normally see in a standard game. I wish I had had some time to look at the card pool a little more before todays event, but it was just as much fun to go into it blind and just pick what looked good. I saw a lot of good dilemmas in my draft, but didn't come across too many great personnel. Definitely looking forward to the next draft.
