Tournament Report - 2E - Peldor Gratitude Festival
2018-12-15 - 12:00 PM
Terok NorDilemma Discard 3rd time
Introduction
Let's see how writing a tournament report two weeks after the event goes. It's our annual Peldor Joi chase the can event. I didn't make anything new for this event and was hoping some of the rule changes would help the dilemma discard deck.

Round 1VoyagerBrian LeonardFW (+55)
Brian was playing high cost fed people and was more than keeping up with the personnel I was putting in play. I got to spend some extra on dilemmas one turn thanks to one of the rules, which likely gave me the time I needed to catch up. Brian's dilemma plays weren't as lucky and I got away with a win with close to 10 dilemmas put out of play.

Round 2KlingonCasey WickumFL (-100)
I don't know if it's easier to take a loss when you can't find a ship, or to have a close game and still lose. Casey was two missions in before I finally drew a ship. I think I spent two full turns drawing cards before I finally found one. Casey was rocking a pretty slick Klingon deck and I only got a couple of dilemmas out of play before he won.

Round 3RomulanMaggie GeppertFW (+70)
I don't remember much of this game at all. I do remember Maggie taking one of my personnel, but other than that, not much at all. I think I got more dilemmas out of play this game than the whole rest of the day together.

Closing Thoughts
This deck is pretty hot and cold. All my opening draws had at least two interrupts which just stuck in my hand the whole game. The interrupts are great when you can use them, but when you can't, it just makes you feel like you've wasted a card slot. The Peldor Joi rules are okay, but I don't think they're too exciting. It would be neat to see each affiliation get a special rule in addition to the others, but I have no ideas for what any of those would be. Looking back on 2018, I played in one less event than I did in 2017 - missing the largest event in my local area North American Continentals. I really only played two different decks TRiH and TN Dilemma Discard. As I've said before, I'm less and less motivated to put much time or effort into the game. I'm really at the point where I'll play the decks that interest me and more interested in just seeing my friends on a regular basis. I'm also at the point where if I make a mistake during a game or if we don't quite get the rulings right, or if some oversight was made - I don't get nearly as upset with myself as I used to. Trek is really just a reason to get together with friends now.
