DominionYou must go to the Stakoron system,
Introduction
It's time for our monthly tournament. I haven't had much time to spend on Trek since last months event. But, I have been reading decklists and reports when I can. Dominion has been very popular and I still need the Dominion achievement. At the risk of being predictable I put together a Dominion deck based on the version nickyank played at NA Continentals. I'd just put the deck together yesterday and had no chance to do any test draws. I was hoping for a lot of luck today, playing a deck I had really only read about.

Round 1TNGJason BeyerFW (+45)
Jason was playing a TNG-Earth deck with Mot and Vic and bonus points. Not exactly something new and fresh, but still dangerous if I got behind. The Dominion showed up slowly and steadily and I didn't let myself get nervous when Jason got a mission ahead. His Chula pile slowed me to a crawl at my first mission, but Crippling Strike kept him from getting too far away. Friction slowed his speed as well and gave me time to catch up. I was able to pull off a Dreamer and the Dream and eventually finished Stakoron Strait. Then Jason's Chula's seemed to lose their teeth as the Jem'Hadar kept all the right people from getting randomly selected and I finished the last two missions.

Round 2DominionFerengiMaggie GeppertFW (+95)
Maggie was playing a Dominion/Ferengi Commodity deck and was having trouble getting any momentum going. Again, I had trouble getting started at the Strait, because of Chula, but once it was done everything went very smooth.

Round 3VoyagerMichael MoskopFW (+45)
Michael was playing an updated version of the Voyager deck all space deck he had played last month. He had some new dilemmas, particularly Dead Ringer, that was giving me trouble. He also played some under-used dilemmas, like Flare of Rage, that I really had no answer for. When he got rid of Remata'Klan and Odo early on, I thought I was in big trouble. Like most of my wins over Michael this year, however, I had some tremendous luck on my side. His first attempt at Caretakers with 5 people yielded a Night Terrors and a Where No One Has Gone Before. He also had several stacked under Inversion Mystery, but a random pick got the right person and he was stuck waiting another turn. When Dead Ringer and Flare of Rage didn't show up, the Jem'Hadar were able to tear through his dilemma pile and this game ended in my favor.

Closing Thoughts
I like this deck, but like I noticed in my game with Casey at Masters, the Stakoron missions and the Founder Homeworld change some pretty core rules of the game before any cards are drawn. Add Crippling Strike, which is WAY overpowered, and the Dominion has quite an advantage. The Stakoron missions aren't easy to complete by any means, but they're certainly not impossible either. I'll only need a win with Maquis, Non-Aligned, and Relativity after the achievements are updated. That will complete my goal that was started in September of 2011. There's a lot of things I would love to play, but I'm going to stick to my plan as best as I can. With a new League season coming up, I might be able to sneak some wins with these remaining oddball affiliations.
