Tournament Report - 2E Standard

Introduction
This tournament was one of the later tournaments in our league. The HQ bonus' were stacking up, and there were 2 affiliations left to score 'big points.' Since I had qualified for the playoffs in the first half, I did not heed the HQ bonus. I saw that Voyager was one of the HQ's people were going to play for points, so I decided it would be time to dust off the Klingons and polish my Krudge and go a-hunting. Oh man was it a great day. All in all it was a great day with some super luck, as all three games against Voyager decks I had Krudge and a ship by turn 3, so all three games against Voyager I was able to take Voyager or Equinox early and keep the crews beat down. I was also able to go shoot the ships for points without worrying about them hanging out at the Headquarters in safety.

Round 1DS9John CorbettMW (0)
Paired against John first round. dang. oh well. This was a painstaking game where every move dictated who would win or lose. Early in the game I went over and use Bah! to score 10 points because I had nothing else to do that turn. John had some great anti-death tech, and he was waiting for me to pull out the Klingons. When we got to the end of the game, both of us had finished 2 missions. John was at 65 points, while I had only finished 60 points worth of missions, but I had shot him for 10 points giving me the 70-65 victory. I believe had we played longer I would have pulled the win out, he was dangeriously short on crew, and I had 10 extra points to spend on Endangered/Conflict/All Out War so his 3rd mission would have been difficult at best, but it was a really great game that ended on a razor's edge.

Round 2VoyagerEd KFW (0)
Ed was playing the first of the 3 voyager decks I faced. Ed was able to actually complete Caretaker's Array, but the loss of Voyager and the death of his crew allowed me to shoot his remaining ship for 40 points and win 100-20

Round 3VoyagerAlexander SchmitzFW (0)
Alex was the second of the three Voyager decks I saw, except I believe he was playing Equinox crew. They did well, but in the end they died valiantly. and the ship came to serve the Klingons. Alex was able to complete Inversion Mystery and name Tragic Turn so subsequent mission attempts would have been more difficult, but the loss of his ship and crew proved to give me the time I needed to win. 100-30

Round 4VoyagerDarrell MinottFW (0)
Darrell was playing the third of three Voyager decks I faced this weekend. This was also the 3rd game I had Krudge out quickly. I believe when I won the game I had 6 captives and 2 Voyager type ships, and Darrell couldn't keep people in play. 100-0
