Let's Play Maquis |
Introduction |
Well there was a 2E event scheduled and another player was needed. The game definetly is not my first choice, but I am happy to help out. |
|
Round 1 | | Steve Nelson | FL (-100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Things started out slow, but I was trying to keep things the same for Steve by using the Defiant to mess up his hand. My first mission attempt I ended up having Thomas Riker stolent away by the Arena, and quickly found myself down by 45 points thanks for him getting beat up 3 times in a turn by the Bajoran Resistance. After that, the game went as expected. |
Robert is playing Maquis which I am very familiar with. He is using three or four DMZ missions with For the Cause. Sadly he doesn't get Cascade Virus or Shankar in play to slow me down. An Arena dilemma sends a peep alone for me to pounce on to score 50 points with Just Like Old Times/Day Kanuu giving me a big advantage. I get slowed down by Biogenic Weapon for 1 turn, but easily complete another mission for the win. FW (100-0) |

Round 2 | | Kris Sonsteby | FL (-65)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
My dilemmas definetely helped out, with Tragic Turn getting me some nice kills on key personnel. But I could never get my events going. The best part of this game was seeing Tom Paris and Sakonna stopped over and over again. By far the best draw engine I had for the day. |
The Prodigy was experimenting with Maquis, and had me on the ropes as I had no event destruction for the Biogenic Weapon that unceremoniously landed on Brute Force early. With Plan B Mode in full effect, I slowed him down via WNOHGB long enough to chip my way through Seek Savior as time expired. FW 100-35. |

Round 3 | | Barry Windschitl | FL (-100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
The name of the game was Attribute Reduction. I found myself unable to pass The Clown, while Bitter Medicine gave the Cardies some trouble. Once again I could not get my events working well and when all the cheaters started working for my opponent the game came to a quick close. |
This was a Thinking game, with me practicing my maths quite a bit. He got events on two of my missions, and Not Easily Taken to take my attributes down by one. He Also used attribute denial dilemmas (Bitter Medicine, Prog'd Compulsion, A Living Death) to work my maths even more. There were a couple of attempts where those factors Alone caused me to just miss the completion. I also lost a turn of play to redraw my hand after Shankar Shanked it. Luckily for me, my dilemmas were holding him back enough for me to rally my guys through to get the win. |

Closing Thoughts |
Maquis can definetly be fun and I learned a lot. Mr. Nelson gave me some great tips and guidance on playing the affiliation in the future. |
