Cheap Borg |
Introduction |
The lesson here is that you can't "just throw together" dilemma piles and that virtual alone cannot support any fun Persistent/Isobella action. I gambled on a few things when making this deck and my gambles didn't really turn out. It was good fun though! |

Round 1 | | Matthew Hayes | ML (-70) |
I was playing "OK", but a couple of embarrassing dilemma whiffs by me - and some very very good dilemma plays by Matt - led to me getting shut down pretty hard. Some fun highlights though were sending Matt's Resistance Rifle away with Equipment Malfunction and a turn later burning Hand of Apollo and not one but *TWO* Unexpected Difficulties to try and stop his last mission attempt.
I'm not sure if it was luck or if Matt teched against Borg but his dilemmas really stuck it to my Drones... |

Round 2 | | Barry Windschitl | FL (-35)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
This round was VERY fun and my first time meeting Barry.
I was able to get Borg Cutting Beam out pretty quick and damaged the Equinox as well as assimilated Captain Rudy before Barry's first mission attempt. Later I even got a second damage dilemma on to the Equinox - one more damage and I have this in the bag! Barry and I alternated attempting missions while I dug for my second cutting beam. Sadly Barry got his third mission before I did. Of course the top card of my deck (which I would have drawn next turn) was my Borg Cutting Beam that I am fairly certain would have led me to a win....
An addition fun highlight, beyond all the damage and assimilation shenanigans, was Barry attempting to use my new Federation allies against me with Moral Choice and Racial Tension. Luckily they missed - but the tension during the random selections was a blast!
Only way this would have been more fun was if I had won - and even then only by a little. :-) I am also now inspired to print some Equniox cards one of these days.... |
This was like sitting in front of a temporal mirror. Dan was playing Borg with Assimilation, and looking to steal my peeps and blow up my ship. I tried to turn that against him with dilemmas that would otherwise whiff against Borg (Moral Choice and Racial Tension), but they didn't pass the muster. I was still able to cycle enough Nucleogenic lifeforms to squeak out a win in this close game. |

Round 3 | | Bye | BY (0) |
The tournament was actually running a little late and I had somewhere to be so I left early since I had the bye. Would have liked to stay (or play!) but my two games were fun and it was time to head out.... Till next time! |
