No Queen |
Introduction |
I was looking at achievements for affiliations that I haven't even played yet when Amber said to try Borg. The only other time that I've played Borg was a gimmicky 2-person solver deck. Instead, I decided to go with a 2-mission solver without the Borg Queen just to see how it would work without any tricks. |

Round 1 | | Michael Moskop | FW (+40)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
After I destaffed his ship in space, he got two missions in one turn after 1) drawing lousy and 2) forgetting that Vic affects cost of dilemmas, not the number drawn. Eventually, I made it through my space mission and swarmed enough at Assess Contamination to get through before he was able to get through a planet mission. |
As soon as I heard the round 1 pairings, I knew this was going to be a loss. Apparently, MvB was going for the Before The Queen achievement. I wish I known that instead of sitting with Holding Cell in my hand waiting for the Queen. I was able to complete some missions, but not enough. |

Round 2 | | Eric Bieche | FL (-5) |
Even though I didn't have the Queen in my deck, I stole his Queen with Assimiliate Resistance which I have to admit, that was pretty awesome. Even though he destroyed all three of my Distant Explorations, I was still close to getting a two-mission win thanks to some Locutus points, extra points from Annexation drone and an Expand the Collective. I attempted and thought that I had left my Anthropology on the ship, intentionally putting more dilemmas underneath the mission so that I could auto-solve with more Expand the Collectives on the mission for the win. Unfortunately, I hadn't which meant that I solved the mission to put me at 95 points and out of Annexation drones. That gave Eric the time to solve his planet mission and, after unfortunately overspending the turn before, I had only one dilemma left in the pile which wasn't enough to prevent him from pulling out the win with no more time left. |

Round 3 | | Brian Leonard | FW (+100) |
It's really hard to destaff an Enterprise but I came close. I had to go through three missions as I never seemed to get any Distant Explorations. |

|
Round 4 | | Corbin Johnson | FW (+35) |
He had never seen my kind of pile before so he wasn't expecting it at all. Even though that he got to Evek me multiple times, got Phoenix in play and managed to cheat through solving Survey New World, I was able to get the full win. |
