Tournament Report - 1E Modern - Deep Space 9 Regional

Introduction
I decided to be sorta competitive with the deck but not too much. I decided to run Brunt Shuttle with 34th Rule for card drawing along with a lot of random Ferengi that I found out of storage. It was fairly mindless really, just get a few groups of people and just swarm missions. At least, that's the theory, there was some definite skill issues and lack of equipment which if I had remembered most of the dilemmas, that might have been taken care of. In any case, it was about having fun.

Round 1Non-AlignedFederationAmber Van BreemenFL (0)
Her deck was a Voyager/Home Away from Home deck with a little Mutation/Borg Nanoprobes to get some people back and in play. I guessed wrong when it came to where she was going to attempt missions first, going the opposite direction. My dilemmas seemed to do little except for a turn as she seemed to have every necessary person when she encountered dilemmas. Meanwhile, yours truly had gotten snagged by the random selection luck of the Amber, snatching one of the three Science personnel out of the entire deck into the land of dying. This blocked out a mission with Scientific Method. Next mission, I'm stymied for a long time with Chula: The Dice which I cound pass... but she solved her missions first for the full win.

Round 2CardassianCarlos PabonFL (0)
The Albino was my nemesis this game - it seemed as though every dilemma that was given, he either solved by himself or supplied most of the skills. It started off well for me, snatching Legate Damar so no For Cardassia for him but from that point on, I was seemingly going in circles. I tried to solve Ferenginar but Founder Secret/Denevan Neural Parasites took out all but one of the Leadership in the deck along with Nog, preventing me being able to solve the cleaned out mission. Volcanic Eruption hurt and I even lost 10 points trying to solve Study Cometary Cloud (although if I had checked to see if I could've actually have solved it first, I would've waited the turn to get Rom into play.)

Round 3StarfleetJordan LeungFL (0)
It's here that I realize that I haven't tried to make an intricate 1e deck in way too long. Lots of free reports, free card draws, interrupts up the wazoo and so on. Couple of key moments - He played Grand Nagus Gint to special download the 35th Rule after I've gotten my 34th Rule in play, thus negating my card drawing. If I had been smart, I would've brought my Ferengi back into hand with Space Time Portal, then replayed the 34th Rule, negating his 35th rule but I didn't. Also, second time I got hit by the Founder Secret/DNP combo but eventually, I could've solved the mission if I had gotten a Science back out. The problem was, I was just drawing and playing one card which was not netting for me a Science personnel. Plus, Jordan had to go and blow up my Phoenix which made me sad panda but nothing I could do about it.
