Rareless DS9 |
Introduction |
I hadn't played DS9 just by itself in a tournament and I wanted to go for a few achievements, namely the rareless ones. I decided to go with the many different species and what better mission to go with than the 40-point scoring Risa. |

Round 1 | | Eric Bieche | FL (-35) |
I was doing really well in the beginning - Got around Tactical Disadvantage with Bridge Officer's Test to 1-solve Protect the Escapees. Next turn, made it around a Swashbuckler/Dreamer/Issue of Trust/Polywater with no stops as only Worf was my Honor (Kasidy wasn't there and he killed Maques with Tactical) After getting four dilemmas underneath Risa and knowing I was able to solve the mission with five with him having only one mission solved, I was in great position. I stopped him from solve Hunt Alien so I should be able to just head to Risa with 5 and solve. Problem was, I forgot that it required Integrity greather than 32, not 31. Second team wasn't able to solve either, giving Eric another turn. He solves Hunt Alien and heads with his two crews. I had drawn Timescape the turn before and didn't draw it for his first crew, stacking two dilemmas under. Next crew, he used Adapt on a Secret Id and Old Differences but using Unyielding to get around it for the mission solve and the win. |

Round 2 | | Michael Moskop | FW (+100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Michael was running a New Resistance deck but wasn't able to get it working like he wanted (first time, a ship was on top and the second time, he got one person but wasn't able to get anything else.) Meanwhile, I was able to bully my way through Protect the Escapees in one try, Host Metaphasic Shield Test in two tries (despite an Insurrection) and two tries at Risa for the win before he was able to solve. A quick snatch of Janeway with Holding Cell took out his only means of Security for a time. |
I massively screwed up the pairing for this round and paired myself down to play MVB. This time, I couldn't even find my Security guys and because I have a big mouth, he knew that was the problem and used Holding Cell to pull my Janeway who was the only way to get Security at the time. I had no chance after that. This did teach me to keep my mouth shut about everything which kinda makes me sad though because I have noticed that games in our area are getting much less friendly and more cutthroat. |

Round 3 | | Jon Carter | FW (+100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Jon was playing Cardassians but was having a hard time getting past dilemmas due to lack of Security. I didn't get a ship for the longest time but made up for lost time with a walkthrough Protect the Escapees thanks to a Promenade School-earned Melora Pazlar/Discreet Inquiry to get around Dignitaries and Witnesses. I also prevented him from getting any points by using Holding Cell to take his Labor Camp-squating Evek from his planet. A double-team attempt at Risa stopped the wanna-be team with two but Boq'ta and Li Nalas somehow got past Captain's Holiday for the win. |
Michael Took his time to build a supercrew of DS9
This game came down to his superior knowledge of the cards and the game (and a slow start from my deck)
He plays dilemmas with great skill (knowing what skills and attributes i had in play better than i did)
He also put the kabosh on my central commands really hurting the main power of the deck. |
