Covenant of Almost Evil |
Introduction |
Since Goval isn't allowed and I do like solving missions with two or less people whenever possible. Unfortunately, with scary luck, it didn't work like I wanted it to. The premise is simple - solve Investigate Maquis Activity with ideally two people, one of whom is triple-Covenant'd for an insane amount of attributes. After that, Basso-Covenant + Basso's text to get rid of Bareil from the discard pile gets by Transport Delegation. Spend the 5 points for Baraka and go to space for the win. If I had to do it over again, I would've changed Protect the Escapees to Amnesty Talk. |

Round 1 | | Michael O'Shogay | FL (0) |
Mike was playing Voyager and we were going fast as possible. The game turned south when I get my Convenant Basso to attempt Transport Delegation by himself. Mike top-decks an Excalbian Drama (1 of 2 possible dilemmas that he could've played out of 28 remaining dilemmas in the deck btw.) He ends up winning a couple of turns later. |

Round 2 | | Greg Bloom | FW (0)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
He's playing Cadets but I was successful in picking off Leyton at the cadet mission, which makes playing Dignitaries and Witnesses far more successful. The next mission attempt, I wasn't able to kill any Leadership but with Greg's playing of Escape, I was able to take out Original Thinker Kirk from his hand which was awesome. Thankfully, I was able to luck through my missions for the win. |
MvB was running a Bajoran deck that had only five personnel, and used three Covenants to pump one up ridiculously high. His goal with his dilemma pile was to consume everything early but a wall combo (Entanglement, The Clown: Guillotine, and Dignitaries and Witnesses). I managed to get two missions done while he set up both his personnel and dilemma pile, and would have had a fifty/fifty shot of getting through his combo on my next turn, but he got his hand set up and I wasn't able to draw the dilemmas to stop his two personnel mission completing shenanigans. |

Round 3 | | Ben Paulsen | FL (0)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
My dilemmas were able to hold off Mirror Starfleet long enough for my deck to do what it was supposed to. However, I had to attempt Transport Delegation with two people and Basso was hit with Caretaker's Guest. If only Yassim could prevent multiple stops at the same time. |
Final round was against MVB. I saw he was playing Bajoran low point/integrity missions, and a small dilemma pile. Having played MVB several times in past, as well as knowing the types of decks he likes to play, I knew some sort of shenanigans/gadgets were going to be coming. I drew into personnel rather quickly and actually got to play Optimism. My first space attempt, he consumed 16 of his 20 dilemmas (YEAH!). Still had 6 personnel survive thankfully. Got through that attempt. He was able to complete his planet mission, but he then went to his other planet and I hit Bosso with Caretakers Guess, stalling his attempts. I waited through my deck to draw into leadership and events to overcome Clown: Guillotine/Dignitaries and Witnesses combo with D'Vela. I then put Strange New Worlds on MVB's final mission, and he killed all his Gravs earlier, thus not allowing him to attempt that final mission. After I had enough Leadership out, I was able to power through the final two missions for the Full Win, and tournament win! |
