Hirogen now |
Introduction |
Since it was traditional I thought I'd go back to one of the DQ affiliations as there was no downloading limit (for me, just the first turn of two people into play - Penk and Dr. Nydom for Defend Homeworld and ASP respectively) but more importantly, no Monument to deal with. The rest of the deck is as simple as could be - 29 people and Hirogen Hunt. |

Round 1 | | Johannes Klarhauser | FW (+65)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Johannes was playing Crell with Dabo for an ideal two mission win. Unfortunately for him he was drawing poorly while I managed to make my way through dilemmas eventually. If he had gotten Leeta out, probably would've gone very differently. |
MVB went first and started attempting early (could have been turn 1 even) with 8 people, but he only encountered walls. Myself, I needed several turns to get out Morn, Crell Moset, etc., and I was way behind in personnel, so I could only watch Michael do his thing and attempt away. On his planet, lots of people died because of flapjacks with eel, but he completed soon afterwards. I had to get rid of a Scow at one of my mission, then two females were put in a Talosian Cage, and Matriarchall Society locked Cardassia for a while. MVB did his thing, completed a planet with Seven of Nine, the worked on the other missions. He had to sit out a friendly fire in space, but cleared another mission to everything but a Scow. I eventually completed Kressari, but I forgot to bring one of guns along from DS9, so I only got 35 from it. I hadn't drawn into Leeta yet, so no points from Dabo were coming in, otherwise I might have had a shot. MVB waited for the FF to count down, then had enough range and engineers to move the Scow and fly back for the win, 120-35. On my next turn, I would have had the pieces in play to complete Cardassia for 50 points and would likely have scored 6 from Dabo, so had I remembered to bring the extra gun from DS9 and not wasted my Mila download on a Science Kit (instead of another gun) to beat Unscientific Method a turn earlier (I could have assigned a Science support personnel, but forgot about it), I could actually have scored 100 points in the same number of turns it took Michael to win, so at least there was light at the end of the tunnel. Still, I figured this would be one loooong tournament... |

Round 2 | | Sebastian Kirstein | FW (+25) |
Sebastian was playing Brunt Shuttle drop which I thought was awesome, attacking Empok Nor for the card draws. He used Bribery to attempt Mining Survey to get around needing to command Empok Nor (which he couldn't do as there was no other sites anyway.) He cheated around my space combo thanks to Anastasia's download of Smoke Bomb to get the mission solved (he was having problems getting Officers) Meanwhile I had to start attempting sooner than I would've liked but eventually, I get through my last mission the turn before he likely would've solved his last mission for the win. |

Round 3 | | Jeremy Huth | FW (+60) |
Jeremy is playing Borg which wasn't surprising, going for a Stop First Contact idea followed by solving Salvage Starship (with Population 9 Billion All Borg) for the two mission win. My planet combo of all gender stuff was going to suck so I had to get going early - Solved space on my first try after getting around Personal Duty/Friendly Fire with a Penk download. Soon after this he solves Stop First Contact, getting rid of my Fed's but my true NA's and Hirogen were up for the challenge. I managed to get around my last mission for the win before he could probe at Salvage Starship thanks to One getting the necessary 10 points at Assist Cooperative. |

Round 4 | | Charlie Plaine | FW (+100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Charlie was playing Hirogen/Holograms but also had stealable missions which I had most of the requirements in my opening hand. While the deck isn't designed to steal missions it's not going to pass up the opportunity either. He attempted Prevent Annihilation which took away Kejal to the other side of the space line before Talosian Cage took out Kes and Seven. He had one hidden agenda present... if it was HQ: Defensive Measures the mission was going to be his once he got two women in play but it was Mission Debriefing. From there I use Rituals to get Medical from President of Earth to get an extra Medical for my Hippocratic Oath - Unscientific Method - Scientific Method combo at Investigate Quantum Singularity. After that, it was a done story. |
Michael stole two of my missions and it was over before it began. |

Yeah, more achievements! |
