TNG Cardassians |
Introduction |
Hadn't played TNG Cardassians yet, decided to combine it with a TNG-only dilemma pile. Originally, I was going to try the all-TNG source deck but realized that the Cardassian outpost wasn't from TNG. |

Round 1 | | bunz | FW (+100) |
Some kind of Starfleet/Federation deck around Visit Cochrane Memorial that wasn't working like he had hoped. I carefully made my way around his dilemmas whereas he was stopped by my Barash-enhanced Hologram Ruse. |

Round 2 | | Sebastian Kirstein | FW (+100) |
He conceded before we even got to play. |

He was working a DS9 Cardassian deck that was having a hard time getting going. He did capture a couple of people with Ilon Tandro and his Kidnappers dilemma but some early mistakes cost him. He hadn't even attempted a mission and his thoughts about stealing wasn't going to work. |
Oh boy, I made so many bad decisions in this game. The biggest strategically was that I didn't focus on my missions at all, instead I got distracted with the idea of again stealing Verify Legendary Journey. But there was no facility there where I could leave my solvers safe from Dejaren, so I kept waiting until I had enough people (or Dejaren-safe people) or another ship, to get it in one turn. It was all moot, since he had not one but two Defensive Measures seeded. (As he told me, "With 3 stealable missions, I have to.") My biggest mistake tactically within the game was that mid-game, when I came over to his Kidnap/DeadEnd-stuck team, and captured two personnel (with Kidnappers and Tandro), I didn't flip Fajo's Gallery to get my draws. I was hurting for draws the whole game, which was part of why I only got one ship. At that point in the game, I also should have: (1) gotten DH for Odo to capture a 3rd, and (2) used Captured to get a 4th. I also poorly decided to only draw 1 each turn with Process Ore -- Michael turned out to not have Reactor Overload as I predicted during deckbuilding, but he had a Civil War unlike my previous opponent so I got skittish. Anyway, Michael solved Host Meta for 50 points (5 for AMS DrChris, and 5 for the killed Agyer), later the universal planet that had the Dead End, then on the same turn (after I reminded him that getting limited to 50 points for this turn was still enough for a win) a planet mission that had my Extradition combo, which fizzled because he left no-one on the ship. FL 100-0. |

Round 4 | | Johannes Klarhauser | FL (-95)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Johannes was playing a Fed/Klingon treaty deck, Organian treaty with Insurrection, using Admiral Kirk to use Genesis Effect to get around Dead End at Insurrection for all that Omicron Particle loving. Unfortunately Dead End isn't in the TNG dilemmas and I forgot that Outpost Raid didn't work on Sona Observatory. He used Genesis Effect in space, naming Crystalline Entity and walked through for the win. Only good point - getting three card draws with Flim-flam... all at the same mission. |
Michael downloaded Lore early on and moved a ship in the direction of my Insurrection, but couldn't quite reach it, so I figured he wanted to block me from using Complete Metaphasic Particles and had not put a Dead End there. I decided to go all in and sent all my guys to attempt Insurrection on turn 2. I had the skills to pass the walls, lost some points to The Higher...The Fewer, but was able to complete Insurrection and get a double turn. I moved on to Agricultural Assessment, where I got stopped by Flim-Flam Artist, enhanced by Access Denied. Michael was stopped by my Medical Crisis combo on his first planet. After some ferrying people around, I finally got through the wall with the help of a special download, which put me on 53 points. MVB attempted a different mission, but couldn't get through the Gomtuu Shock Wave. With several ships out, I attempted IAP with two crews. I guessed correctly with The Genesis Effect, naming Crystalline Entity, so got rid of that one. The second ship got through Scientific Method and completed with mission specialist points and Kirk points for 50. |

Round 5 | | Brian Sykes | FW (+4) |
Brian was playing a DS9 Cardassian deck with a two mission win (For Cardassia + Establish Dominion Foothold at Verify Legendary Journey) He solved Cardassia easily as he attempted before I could get Barash into play, losing 9 points to Higher the Fewer. That came back to bite him after he solved Verify Legendary Journey for 50 points, forcing him to go to a third mission. Meanwhile, I solved Amnesty Talks in one attempt, waited past a Friendly Fire at my planet and got around the Dead End for the come from behind win 100-96. |
