TOS? Blah! |
Introduction |
So, for this tournament, I was tired of playing DS9/Earth and figured I would give TOS a try. Thanks to Amber and MvB I was able to get a few cards to finish the Deck. I was surprised at how well it clicked, was very fast + Kirk shenangans made it work well. I can think of a couple things to change, on dilemmas and draw deck. I'm curious to see how I will evolve the deck overall. |

Round 1 | | Michael Van Breemen | FW (+60)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
MvB was running a Voy all space deck. He had a really interesting gimmick of using Finding our Way and discarding a bajillion ship cards for Back to Basics. A pretty cool tactic, but ran into some issues when he had no real way to get rid of Kirk, so even when He would draw B2B, He would have to throw in an extra stop em all Dilemma to avoid the Kirk. Getting two underneath instead of 1. So eventually was able to wittle down and complete all three missions for the full win. |
I forgot about Kirk. That's what it came down to... well that and not counting the correct number of people who would've gotten stopped by In Development. The draw deck is working fine but gifting someone their space mission isn't good. I'm giving him two dilemmas just to make him think about using Kirk before the wall, alternating back and forth with the wall and not the wall. Unfortunately, the give two/get 1 back (Shran was my choice stop with Shocking Betrayal which I should've named with Inversion Mystery, another continuing trend.) I manage to get through a few missions but not four. |

Round 2 | | Amber Van Breemen | FW (+65) |
Amber was running a Damaged Starfleet deck, But my dilemma deck is set up to handle them by picking on Treachery with Infinite Diversity as well as having only 2 or 3 Non Skill Random Selectors total. My dudes were pretty speedy, and I was able to pull some hijinx by blowing up a Security Drills to fend off a free kill from Caretaker's Guest. TOS guys were fast enough to put this one in the bank for another full win. |

Round 3 | | Al Schaefer | FW (+70)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Al was the second part of my two games vs Starfleet, however this time there was no Archer, and had a pretty cool mechanic of using the Nathan Samuels with a bunch of Future Non Human Enterprise people to play them quickly. But since they have no real way to double up skills, Most of my dilemmas would bounce. Or If that failed could fall back on Infinite Diversity and nail Treach again, including one time Where after a Triple attempt with 19 different people, Only 2 dilemmas were put under. Good stuff. |
Casey is playing a TOS deck today. I was able to filter out Kirk pretty easily and I felt that I was stalling him well with my dilemma pile. I think if I had paid a little closer attention, I would have been more effective, He also never used Kirk when he was in play, so I stacked an extra dilemma at least twice. The story of this game was Casey's ability to stonewall my deck by identifying key-skill holes in medical and treachery. I had enough personnel out to triple team Restore Errant Moon. But Casey's 'return to pile' dilemmas and use of Infinite Diversity was more than enough to keep my legions at bay. |

Round 4 | | Altoid | FL (-35) |
This game started off really well, And I had a two mission lead coming down to the end, I could have double attempted and blown up his last machinations and probably would have solved my last mission had I got the chance. But It seemed as though He saved up a massive amount of interrupts and spammed me into oblivion with standard punishments and protectorates and maybe a comfort women somewhere in the mix. A note to self though... that Garak destroys alot of my plans, but changing up my dilemma pile a bit should negate evil skill gainers like Garak, Riker and the rest of em. Full Loss, But still was able to finish in first for the tourney. |
