Introduction |
It was several months since my last tournament, So I figured that this one would be a good get back into the swing of things tourney. |
|
Round 1 | | Jason Beyer | FL (-30) |
Playing the Klingon deck that I brought, I really was not drawing the personnel that I wanted. I wasn't sure what Jason was going either since it mostly looked like a TNG solver with several oddballs thrown in. It wasn't until the first mission attempt when I saw that he was packing a large amount of skill gaining that threw me into some fits. After giving him 2 freebie missions, I was able to make a late game charge after his Chula pile became mostly exhausted. I knew I could win on one more turn, but that turn never came. |

Round 2 | | Al Schaefer | FW (+65)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
I was playing Brian Leonards super high cost dude deck this game, which lead my opening draw by drawing 3 7 cost ships, a 6 cost ship, a 5 cost personnel and two 4 cost. It took awhile to get going, but it seemed like a major dilemma mismatch vs Al who was playing Maggie's romulan capture deck. I knew I had a slight advantage when it seemed like the dilemmas targeted diplomacy and I think I had several people with 2 Diplo and everyone else with one. |
Casey was playing with Brian's Battleship TNG deck and I had Maggie's Romulan capture. I got some good stuff going and Brainwashed Kirk and Picard, and captured Data and Guinan. Casey was delayed for quite some time by Broken Captive, but in the end, I could not get rid of enough of his Diplomacy and he won. Non of the Romulan ships could beat any of the Enterprise' in an engagement, so mass capturing just wasn't going to happen this game. |

Round 3 | | Bye | BY (0) |
Bye makes me sad :( |

Closing Thoughts |
All in All I did ok, I didn't see the skill gaining coming, which ill be extra sure to watch in the future, made more mistakes than I'd like... However the 6 month between playing time was probably the cause. |
