Introduction |
After missing the regional due to a bum car, It was a pretty long gap between tournaments for me. I wanted to try out some of the new DS9 stuff added in the expansion and set off making a deck based around the new peeps. |

Round 1 | | Al Schaefer | FW (+25)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Al was coming off a regional win, and our games usually come down to the wire. Al has a lot of experience against me and probably knows what is in my dilemma pile just as well as I do at this point, losing the infinite diversities and a rapid progress to the gauntlet of Ohh Nothing Happened had me sweating early. How ever a very bad draw at my first mission evened up the overall game and bought me enough time to fight out a very hard fought full win down to the wire at time. Getting data out of the picture with a timely holding cell, seemed to be a harsh hit as it made his missions much harder to solve. On a lucky note, I totally forgot about his kirk play. And threw down a Hard Time and Rapid Prog thinking I had an easy stop. I breathed a massive sigh of relief as he Kirked my Hard Time away and let the Rapid Prog hit. Overall a game as tight as I expect from Al these days, always fun. |
Casey was running an updated DS9 draw deck with the new multi-affiliation power ups. I assumed he was playing his normal dilema pile and scored some early hits with my Ooohh Nothing Happeneds. I thought I would have a chance until his first attempt in space; my dilemma draw included mostly planet dilemmas, a Gomtuu, and an Unconventional Consideration. He already had his Intelligence guy in play, and Gomtuu stood no chance, so he pretty much got a free mission to start the game. While I had knocked out his Infinite Diversities with my early events, Casey's remaining dilemma plays were rock solid and he didn't give any ground. Data got sucked into a Holding Cell which made my solving missions that much more difficult. I held my ground for the rest of the game and almost pulled out a win but Casey was able to double team his planet mission after time was called. I stopped his first team, but only had two dilemma draws for his second team and drew space dilemmas for both. This back and forth game was probably the best game I've played all year. |

Round 2 | | Brian Leonard | FW (+55) |
Brian was running his crazy high integrity TNG Deck with some additional point scoring mechanics built in. I'm pretty sure his first mission attempt had 8 people all with Integrity 8, Luckily enough they have a pretty small skill selection and my standard dilemmas were enough to hold them at bay. |

Round 3 | | Maggie Geppert | FW (+95) |
Maggie was running a DS9 Deck as well, this one with a focus on Gamma Quadrant and with distant exploration thrown in with it seemed like some promenade school fun with possible two mission wins to consider. Things went south at her first mission attempt as she wound up getting destaffed and wasn't able to recover from it. |

Closing Thoughts |
The DS9 deck performed very well, There are some tweaks that could be made, and shift around some events, but overall having the Attribute bonus from the Centaur, Sisko Kira and possibly Worf made the low integ missions almost a joke. Holding Cell proved to be viciously effective yet again with it coming into a play in nearly all of my games to nix out key personnel |
