Round 1 | | Anastasia Kalashnikova | FW (+20)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
I knew going into this game i would have a hard time against Alexey Who was playing Voyager. But after hitting him with an early WNOHGB then capturing His Revised Chakotay with an Inequitable Exchange I was able to hit him with another WNOHGB giving me the extra turn I needed to pull off the FW 100-80 |
"Man, you just went to No one has gone before!"
"For a second time in the same game?"
"It happens"
"What, WNOHGB?"
"Sometimes" |

Round 2 | | Brian Sykes | FL (-60)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Brian was playing a TN dilemma removal deck and We both got off to decent starts with Him managing to destroy all 3 of My sight for sore eyes before i had My Tucker in play. In a game that was actually alot closer than the score implies Brian got the FW 100-40 |
Ted was playing Mirror Starfleet, which having played them at the Worlds level back in the day, I was very familiar with their many strengths (and few weaknesses). Fortunately I was able to get Dukat down early and keep his A Sight for Sore Eyes off the table. This meant discarding a lot of good cards, but the ONLY way to contain mirror SF is not let them get off the ground. Even with that, once Ted got up and running he was tough to stop. With neither of us running Transport Crash Survivors, he was microteaming with 5, but I was able to stop him with 1 under on both attempts and hit him with a Dal'Rok the next turn when he had EXACTLY 17 cost worth of people. I was tracking him on Archaeology, but then he played Maxmilian Forest and I couldn't keep track of his skill gaps anymore -- I don't think he had any, especially after he changed gears and started attempting with 9. It only took one attempt in space for me to stop enough people to bury the mission, and he mopped it up on his next turn before setting up for a planet move at Obtain Vaccine.
My mission solving this game was fairly straightforward. Attempt and get stopped multiple times until I had 4 dilemmas under, then use Damar and/or Micro-teams to solve. This included a turn when I started my turn at Kressari, flew back to my HQ to go down to 5 crew members, then back to Kressari for the Damar-assisted solve, then back to the HQ to pick up the reinforcements, then (since I had 3 unique Cardassians on the Tenak'Talar) over to Deliver Supplies for a double attempt. I used my Ruling Councils to pile up Chula Dilemmas, but Ted did slide Timescape by me a couple of times which limited the strategy a bit. On my next to last turn I solved Deliver Supplies with 4, and cruised over to Survey New World, where I got hit with another Timescape thanks to an Unexpected Difficulties Re-Draw, but that left him with no events in core so D'Vela was switched off, cracking open the door for my skill dilemmas. He stopped my first crew with 3 under but I had to wait one more turn. On Ted's turn he went with 9 at Obtain Vaccine with 2 under and I officially made the Play of the Tournament: I drew Miner Revolt and Vault of tomorrow, so I played both, and went and fetched -- in true Devil in the Dark style, No Kill I. That move is a total Trek Nerd-gasm -- apparently the Horta didn't want anyone to have the Vaccine ;). Strategically this wasn't the greatest move, but I was reasonably sure I had the game won and the Trek Nerd factor is off the charts so I couldn't resist.
On my turn I sent Damar + 3 Jem'Hadar to attempt Survey New World. With no cards in hand and nothing on the table to add dilemmas, My nerd move didn't hurt me and I finished off SNW for the win without giving Ted a chance to draw dilemmas. FW 100-40. |

Round 3 | | Fritz Meissner | FL (-20)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
this game was another nail biter that could have gone either way but in the end Fritz outplayed Me and got the FW 100-80 |
Mirror no-hand starfleet. I'm not sure I've ever played against them before. I was encouraged to be attempting my space mission before him. I would've prevented his 10 point HQ bonus if not for the turn where I deliberately didn't play anyone except Kirk to make sure I didn't have too many people on the ship in space... he gave me nothing saying that I could just Kirk the one he could play and I thought "Aha, I can save Kirk for my next mission ON THIS TURN"... except then I checked Repair Null Space Catapault's requirements and I didn't have the physics which was on the seven of nine that I didn't play. Fail.
I made up for it by stopping a double team attempt at one of his planets ... 8 people got one under and killed one, then the 5 person follow-up got 1 under and killed a second. 13 people stopped with just 2 under. That was probably what won me the game. |

Closing Thoughts |
overall I was very happy with the Deck and will definately play with it some more as i need to get use to not wanting cards in my hand which believe it or not is a really hard thing to do LOL
Can't wait for the next event to try this deck again now that i am gettin the hang of how it should be played |
