Donatra Smash-The Downside of the Schwartz Version |
Introduction |
The deck I played was the same deck(mostly) I built in tandem with Alabama Nate(Naetor)over a two month period. Basically Donatra with Silik and Gav for dilemma busting, ETUs for kill prevention, Ptol to scope dilemmas, and a tried and true standard skill/attrition wall dilemma pile. No Assess Contamination(I think the requirements are too high to use in a non-Borg deck). This deck is somewhat antiquated due to Kevin, Nate, and I working on the better version(Upside of the Schwartz Version) but has yet to be played. |

Donatra Smash vs Maquis stall with a kill pile. Early Cascades, Stallings, and a Biogenic early had me reeling, but a few bad dilemma draws on his part allowed me to solve a couple missions. Donatra was never used but soaked up every SI. I hit a causal recursion but didn't really matter anyway with him gaining bonus points from deploy the fleet and allegiance. In the end I won but it was close having to complete all four of my missions I won 130-75. |
Donatra (among others) is the reason why I added Secret Identity into the dilemma pile. Normally good, my dilemma pile failed me miserably on his first attempt - Dreamer + Tragic Turn + Bold Plan + 0 All-Consuming Evil's = walk through first mission. Thankfully, I played Biogenic Weapon on Aid Legendary Civilization which forced him to do four missions, giving me time. I grinded through my first mission and a mis-play on his part gave me the second mission. I had enough matching captain's/ships at this point that I could fly them to his mission and play my remaining two Deploy the Fleet's for the win, I just had to stop him from solving his last mission. Unfortunately, that was not to be as his second team solved for the win. Maybe adding Strange New Worlds would be a good idea. |

Donatra Smash v Extra Speedy TOS. It got started off on the wrong foot when he played a first turn Surprise Party. We always have insanely close battles that usually go to the last turn. Some bad luck went my way getting de-staffed for a turn, getting hit with WNOHGB on another turn, but with time getting close he played an Enterprise to score 5 pts after time had been called putting him at 70. I was able to stop his last attempt. With me at 35 I was at a 30 pt mission giving him 1 dilemma, I believe, then I solved. Now at 65 I needed to solve the last mission by double attempting. Solve I win, don't solve he gets a mod win. He stopped the first attempt and then the second attempt clinching the game. ML 65-70. |
When I saw Michael drop Romulus, I realized I was up against Donatra. Fortunately, I only had 5 non-skill dilemmas in my pile, so he never got to use her. I managed to destaff him early by killing two P'Tols with He Wasn't Nice and bouncing Donatra with Watley, buying me some extra time. His dilemma pile was pretty effective against me, but I was able to get ahead 65-35 when time was called. I dropped the Enterprise to score 5 points to reach 70, and needed to complete Track Survivors with the 5 point bonus to win as he had a Causal Recursion in my core. He was able to stop me and complete one mission, but not both to pull to 70-65 at the end of the game. |

Donatra Smash v Delphic Starfleet. I went first dropping 5 personnel on turn 1. Out attempting on turn 4. Solved ALC after a couple attempts really set him back. Some nice dillemma play by him kept my personnel count down at Survey new world. He solved Sphere Network for 50(first space mission). I went on to the final mission after solving Survey and attempted my space mission where he used SI to strip away my astro, i plled a Bashir the used Brinkmanship to pass the Integrity part of WNOHGB for the win. 100-50. |
I kinda knew this game was going to be a loss for me as soon as it started because (A.) I am playing someone with a TON of experience and (B.) he had 5 personnel out at the end of the first turn. He whacked me for 12 cost worth of personnel with Aid Lost Colony and that just locked it. I was able to stop him multiple times at Survey New World, but that just wasn't anywhere near enough. |

Donatra Smash v Cardassian Capture. Good test for Donatra Smash as it hasn't faced a whole lot of direct ineraction. Started off pretty bad for me with Evek hitting two personnel, fortunately he was not able to draw into Psychological Pressure at all. 2 Central Commands being recurred by Feast on the Dying had me nervous, but Silik pulled my butt from the fire giving me the skill I needed for Whisper in the Dark to pass. I win 100-65. |
