RomulanSecret Garden
Introduction
Came into the tournament with this being the last time I am going to play Donatra Smash at a major tournament. It's time I move on to greener pastures and try a different deck. Continuing with my tradition, this deck, Secret Garden, was named after a Bruce Springsteen song. I was hoping to bring home the Iowa regional back to Iowa. That was not the case. Turns out the combination of not being at an Insurrectionable mission, and having Donatra, Neral, and Silik/Gav is the murderer's row of Star Trek CCG personnel as it is an almost unstoppable combination of personnel nullifying lots of dilemma choices. Also Donatra got every SI given to me as usual. (Most of the accounts you are about to read are what I can remember of the games)

Round 1TNGBrian LeonardFW (+100)
Brian was playing a sweet TNG 4 cost or more build. It's refreshing to see different builds getting played. Especially non-cadet TNG. My ALC really didn't do anything to him but he stalled out early and I ended up destaffing him on his first planet mission. He just couldn't get going after that. I was too quick and won 100-0.

Round 2TOSBen PaulsenFL (-65)
Ben was playing a TOS Integrity Speed Solver. He got going fast and furious. I didn't draw into an Exobiology and attempted ALC without realizing that fact. Didn't complete only because I didn't have that on my second attempt really set the tone for the rest of the match. Kept getting tripped up at my other missions not really getting any other dilemma's under. I powered through 1 mission and that is all I could muster. He was too quick and my dilemma selection too bad. He killed it and me. He won 100-35.

Round 3TOSMatthew HayesFW (+10)
Matt was playing an interesting TOS Science based Cunning Solver. I had to change my plans early as I didn't draw a single Medical until the final turn so ALC was out of the question early. I had to go Deliver Evidence/Khitomer Investigation. Matt completed his first 2 35 point missions and with stopping Ent-B 2x he was at 90 points. I completed Deliver Evidence/Khitomer Investigation and was starting on my third when he completed his second. If he had drawn into his other bonus point stuff he would have had the win. Instead, since I drew no Medical all game I had to complete Transport Crash Survivors for the win. It's not out of the question with this deck. A final turn P'tol revealed 3 Planet/Space dilemmas and 1 planet dilemma on top. The top two dilemmas were all that concerned me as with 4 under and I could 6 attempt. I played Rekar which means only the top dilemma mattered to me. Back Room dealings was the top dilemma. I needed to be able to complete with 5. I was fortunate to have Data out. So I attempted with 6 including Rekar and Donatra. He was only able to draw 1...Back Room Dealings. I stopped my one Treachery I sent and completed with the remaining 5 having 33 cunning and 19 skills between them. This was a hard fought close match. I won 100-90.

Round 4StarfleetEric BiecheFW (+30)
Eric was playing a Damaged Starfleet/Non-Human deck. A bit much to be running together IMHO but Eric played it well. I completed ALC early and set him way back as he had to drop Samuels beneath his deck. He came back though double completing his first 2 missions(the first of which due to a misplay of Agonizing Encounter while Archer was present). His Shran helped keep my final mission clean of dilemmas until I was able to get a turn in, in which he wasn't stopped. In the end I was able to power through his dilemmas by limiting his selection with the Donatra/Neral/Gav combination. I won 100-80.
