CardassianAlmost Fool-Proof
Introduction
I was playing a Cardassian Capture deck (which I later realized did little-to-nothing once I had prisoners) with an un-Agonizing Encounter mission selection (each skill only appearing once)...

Round 1DS9William HoskinML (-10)View opponent's Report
...while Will looked to be playing a ‘standard’ Promenade School/Distant Exploration DS9 deck. This wasn’t to be the case. So, over the course of the first few turns Will drops a Starfleet Kira, Garak, Nog and Hoya to MotW, along with a Condition Red, and I’m thinking “Promenade School”. And there it was – 5 points. But he also discarded an Enterprise-D from the Dangerous Missions set and a Spock, Man of Integrity. I was confused. Turns out he was playing a deck with no humans, no duplicate species AND at least a card from each of the first 25 expansions! Blimey! He then drops a Holding Cell (Execution Cell more like – seriously, it kills the personnel when they’re “released”) taking Julian “Rebel Captain” Bashir with it, which also had the added bonus of rendering my Comfort Women, Central Command and G.-P.Ts useless. I declined from playing them to destroy it, as my logic was, there’s no point as it means he can play another copy, stealing someone else away. On that note, I was wrong, as it turns out he was playing a deck with no duplicate CARDS in it! Double blimey! I managed to complete Kressari (for only 30 points as I’d left my Bat’leths at my HQ – d’oh!) and Deliver Ancient Artifact (taking me to 70), and my dilemmas managed to bag me a Daniels (who I thought was good for his Intelligence), then Ensnared got me a Worf. Will completed Rescue Prisoners of War and Explore Extradimensional World (taking him to 80, thanks to his class taken at the Promenade School), but, even after getting through the dilemmas on the final attempt, he hadn’t brought the double Science needed to complete Fulfill Temporal Paradox. The whistle went with me getting a Modified Loss – 70-80.

Round 2StarfleetNicholas YankovecFL (-20)View opponent's Report
Nick started by dropping the Damaged Enterprise and a load of MACOs – a lot of personnel are good, but none of them had command stars for the ship. When he eventually got an Archer, we seemed reluctant to head out to his missions; I think he feared I’d nab his gold star, then leave him adrift. After he got out his Tucker and headed out, I pointed out that Starfleet personnel could be played to the ship while it was at a Delphic Expanse mission, so there was no chance of it getting destaffed. Nick wasn’t happy about not remembering/spotting this earlier. I completed Kressari and remembered to bring my Bat’leths with me this time (although a timely cough from Nick actually reminded me to ditch them – thanks, fella), so I was 40 points up. My plan was to complete the 40 planet mission, and then leave a guy behind with a Labor Camp while the others went to complete the final planet mission (hopefully scoring the final 20 there and then, or in a turn or two). Although I did half of the plan (completed my first planet mission, and took myself to 80 points), the rest of the plan fell by the wayside – Insurrection and The Clown: Go Away made completing the smaller mission almost impossible, while a Grav-Plating Trap took out my Labor Camp. To make matters worse, during Nick’s turn, even though I’d bagged Archer in a previous attempt, a combination of Erika Hernandez and Gannet Brooks made my Broken Captives redundant. Luckily, I’d also bagged Travis so Nick wasn’t going to be completing Investigate Derelict during that attempt. My next turn was nondescript. It was Nick's next turn, where it happened: he played AU T'Pol, and finally drew and played a Markus Forbes (who then went on to rescue Archer and Travis), so I was left with my captiveless dilemma pile to stop Nick’s teams. It failed and he chalked up two missions in a single turn. Full loss – 80-100

Round 3ByeBY (0)
I had a BYE, so that's what I said as I left, wishing the fellas luck against the Danes in the Danish Nationals.
