Tournament Report - 2E |

Kohlar and K'mtar's Excellent Adventure |
Introduction |
This tournament was originally scheduled to be a 1E Cool tournament. Fortunately, it became a 2E standard tournament and I had a great time!
I don't really have a lot of time for deckbuilding these days so I took something I'd be tinkering with for a few months and brought it. Everything went better than expected! |

Round 1 | | Al Schaefer | FW (+50)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Had we played this match again, Al would most certainly have won. He seemed to simply be having bad draws all around and just couldn't really solve Eliminate Sphere Network early on. My Dilemma pile was on fire. Al was hoping to do really well today in the hopes of getting his rating above 1800. Oh well. |
Corbin was playing a Delta Klingon deck with a bizarre combination of personnel. I got off to an ok start, but I had a lot of duplicate personnel which made it easy for Corbin to stop me at Investigate Sphere Network. I hadn't paid close enough attention to who Corbin had played so I felt like I was grasping at straws when it came to my dilemma pile. I was drawing planet in space and vice-versa. Corbin wasn't holding anything back and continued to stop me at ISN. I finally drew into some At What Costs and thought I might have a chance at a comeback when Corbins last 2 Baht Kuhl challenges went my way. Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance when a timely Nu'Daq resurrected a Baht Kuhl and Corbin scored his final bonus points to complete the game. |

Round 2 | | Eric Bieche | FL (-80) |
Eric had a very similar deck to Al's and it was firing on all cylinders. I also took a calculated risk and threw a gomtuu at him at eliminate sphere network early on and that basically let him walk through the mission. I knew that was it. |

Round 3 | | Brian Leonard | FW (+15) |
Brian dropped voyager with lindsay ballard and harry kim on turn one. Come freaking on! What luck! Then he goes on to attempt caretaker's with 4. Fortunately, for his first two attempts at caretaker's I was able to stop him from solving without putting any dilemmas under it. I really did enjoy how he solved Destroy Transwarp Hub for I think it was 75 points (3 mission accomplished + Hurried Departure). well done sir! He then attempted some delta planet mission with 12. I threw 5 dilemmas and just barely managed to knock 12 down to 4 and was able to win on the next turn. Could have definitely gone either way! |

Closing Thoughts |
So, my deck was Klingons. This was the first time I've played klingons in a 2E tournament. They're tough! K'mtar is broken good and got me a surprise party and an energize. I've been considering getting no-wins or transporter sabotage but for now I'll stick with the accelerator events. Kohlar is crazy good too! Mix him with Enterprise-Js and things get very interesting! I'm hoping to tweak this into a two mission win deck (Mission Accomplished and Hurried Departure make a lot of sense for this deck). |
