Introduction |
Fun tournament, time to bring a fun deck. The morning of the tournament, my roommate, Sean, his alarm went off at 7:45 or so so that he could make it to the "cool" tournament. I awoke, and though I got some paltry amount of sleep, I decided to stay awake and play in the raffle tournament, because I simply wasn't done binging on Trek. Pulled out my theives, then remembered that I'd changed the pile to Tragic before leaving for Gencon - and I was sick to death of Tragic. So, I pulled the pile from my copy of Nate's DS9 deck and added some Caretaker's Guests to it (and probably some other stuff), and took off. |

Round 1 | | Michael Van Breemen | FL (-70) |
I got to face MVB when he wasn't running a Tragic pile! My thieves were out and running fast, but MVB's dilemma pile just had too many answers. I did manage to get on the board, and was triple teaming by the end though. However, Nate's pile was no more effective than my pile from day 1 was at slowing down the crew of the Relativity, and defeat was assured. |

Round 2 | | Charlie Plaine | FW (+100) |
This time, I had MVB's Relativity deck, and Charlie had Brian's thief deck. Brian's deck has roughly the same disadvantages as mine, but everything costs about 300% more since he was running all the Unnatural Selection stuff. Thus, when I would do things like give a sole WNOHGB against Charlie's one mission attempt, that would elicit multiple repetitions of the utterance that gave my deck its name: Brian Sykes is the worst. It was also during this round that Niall came over from the cool tournament with an evil grin on his face and told us: "Johannes just made Stephen Hawking disabled." |

Round 3 | | Rachel Schmelzle | FL (-100) |
Rachel had to go to a True Dungeon run before the start of this round, so Brian stepped in to take the reins of my thief deck, while I played using his thief deck. Despite knowing exactly which skill to call for each of the three copies of Infinite Diversity/Counterinsurgency Program (Archeology), I couldn't hold back the Gatherer hordes long enough to get on the board. |
