Tournament Report - 1E - The Void Regional |

Starmeat and Potatoes |
Introduction |
This was my first tournament since like 1999, but I'm technically on a two-tournament win streak. Big thanks to Derek (winterflames) for putting on the event at a really great venue. I came with a very straight-forward SF deck, using Seat of Starfleet and Protect the Timeline and powered by Study Divergent History. I just wanted to have to react and play through my opponents dilemma, and that's how it played. Great games all day! |

Round 1 | | Derek Marlar | FW (+100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
I think Derek's deck let him down with a slow start. SDH and Temporal Almanac powered through a good chunk of my deck to help me get the skills to pick through dilemma. The highlight was definitely the Enterprise E (we shared Earth) transporting the whales from the 80's to the current timeline, to old San Francisco. I promise I wouldn't have hurt those whales. I believe the game ended 100-15 |
I moved the whales to Starfleet HQ, and accomplished exactly 0 missions. I need better skill mix. I hate Transporter Inhibitor. And his little Cat, too. |
|
Round 2 | | Alex Marlar | FW (+100) |
Alex had a quick and lean TNG Fed Deck and it was moving fast. I got lucky and picked off just the right people to hold him off with Friendly Fires and Misinterpreted History and won the footrace against a very nimble foe that was attempting aggressively from turn 1. I ended up stealing his Collect Metaphasic Shield after I could clear the Dead End Alex worked dilemma to expose. I typically hate stealing missions, but I had to do it for those tempting 40 points. I think it was 100-0. |

Round 3 | | Ben Marlar | FW (+65) |
Ben had a very interested Klingon/Cardassian Alliance deck. Again, the deck was quick and nimble and Ben piloted it beautifully. I got lucky when he got hit by a friendly fire that I had seeded out of order with Personal Duty, but I had managed to kill just enough security for him to hit it anyway. His dilemma was really jamming me up, and I had to wait around to draw the necessary. He was up 30-0 and was primed to go on a run, but I managed to by some luck have enough to clear his Cloud dilemma at just the right time to sweep three missions in a row to win on the next turn. 100-35 |

Round 4 | | Danny Rice | FW (+50)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Bariel is part of my play group and I knew his Pike/Cadet deck was fast and had great dilemma. Starfleet just have a relentless number of skills and by that time I was drawing 6 cards per turn. It was only a matter of time to get the missing skills I needed to sweep 3 missions. We ended 100-50 |
An exemplary opponent with exceptional skill who has a keen mind for tactics and a knowledge of my strategies. I was unable to overcome the speed and performance of his deck. |

Closing Thoughts |
It was an absolute blast to play in a Trek Tournament again, so big thanks to Winterflames again. All the games were fun and I think everyone had fun...which is the real point of all of this. Highly recommend making another of his events if you are within range (we drove about 300 miles each way but it was worth it!).
Starfleet is just a well-rounded affiliation that, in my opinion, makes a knockout solver. My dilemma did just enough to hold them up and steal some wins which is my favorite way to play. If you have any improvement suggestions, I'm all ears! |
