Kazon Battle (Beccles Regional) |
Introduction |
First time of using Kazon Battle probably wont be the last as had a load of fun with them. Although the deck needs a LOT of optimizing. Too much crap meant I wasn’t getting the draws I needed. I put a few copies of devil in thinking a lot more people would have DoW based decks, but with the cards being available only just before the tournament started that turned out to be a bad judgement on my part. War Council didn’t work as well as I had hoped as a draw engine as getting the treachery together proved harder then I expected. |

Round 1 | | Jon Carter | FL (-70)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Had a great first game against JC. I seem to have a habit of drawing the best players in the game in R1 of the one-day tournaments I participate in. Last two tournaments I drew MVB in R1.
In the mission seed phase he successfully duped me into thinking he was playing one of new DoW alliance decks with his mission selection, in reality he was playing First Contact Borg. I had almost assembled my attack fleet in time to wormhole over to his cube and blow it up but I forget to re-open my spacedoor one turn to get the last ship I needed and that one turn delay gave him enough time to get his oupost out and along with Gowron and Multiplexer drone he came to me and got his shots in first, blowing up my Voyager along with it’s entire crew which obviously set me back significantly.
To make matters worse, my hand is full of now useless interrupts/incidents/etc, so its looking like rebuilding could be hard. John then continues with his fast draw / play engine, breezing through my dilemmas easily to score his objectives. I did eventually manage to get 30 points with a small 3 person away team on the Ocampa planet, but John scored the next 80 points to win the match fairly soon afterwards. Score 100-30 to John.

Liam is Kazon battle. I am sad because I need to assimilate for multiple victory options.
So I go to the DQ fast and use gowron to takeout a docked voyager (his tactics mean his battleship as long as he is docked.
But this slows down his reports and kills some of the treachery he needs for war council.
His hand is then clogged up with wormholes and war councils. So I go solve.
My mission bluff leaves a nebula underseeded, so I peak with Geordi's eyes and see a v'ger. Checking for skills i clear it at and swap to harness.
He is still rebuilding so I go to cardassia after I draw Dukat. backup plan was to assimilate Kirk as a second counterpart and steal Talax for double points |

Round 2 | | Glen "Lofty" Shipley | FL (-100) |
Went up against Glen in Round 2, he had a decent mirror alliance deck which was moving along fast and making all the right moves. My attack plan was foiled once again when as I was about to wormhole my Voyager and Warship across to his mirror quadrant as he interrupted with Amanda Rogers knocking one of my wormhole interrupts. As I didn’t have another one in hand to replace it with this left Voyager out on it’s own vulnerable to attack by his fleet so again I lost most of my personnel early in the game. I also didn’t help myself in this game by making a massive school boy error of mis-seeding a space dilemma combo under a planet mission. Tried to redshirt a mission but made another fatal error of not moving my people from the ship to the outpost and got hit by god at the end of the combo. I had Blenna Torres on the ship and she was the Transporter Skill I needed to complete the mission. 100 – 0 to Glen |

Round 3 | | Jason Beyer | FW (+30) |
My luck was a bit better for this round, got a better starting hand with more personnel which allowed me to get my ships together a bit quicker. Jason was just as quick to get download his borg outpost with construct starship and managed to get Tomalok of Borg out just as quick which allowed him to hide from my fleet for a few turns with the clock, however I was following his cube down the spaceline and he quickly realised he was going to have to risk decloaking in order to score some points. He did well as he managed to get complete multiple borg objectives and reach 70 points before I was able to get to the point of having enough fire power to destroy both his original cube and the replacement cube he grabbed through Flagship Relaunched. He was unlucky to hit the Entertaining Display / Transport Inhibitor combo which knocked out a big chunck of his people leaving him unable to staff his last cube to save it from its impending doom. However he did have a good choice of lockout – dilemmas under the missions I tried to attempt and in the end I only just about scrapped the FW as we headed towards time with only a few minutes to spare. Final score 140-70 to me. |
