DominionBreen-a-nate
Introduction
It's our first league event! I had built a TNG deck to try out some of the new Tapestry cards but decided at the last minute that it was too weak. Our goal is to start playing more cut throat and I wanted something with what I felt would be more staying power. I built a Breen-based Dominion deck with ll virtual cards on my lunch break at work and had Nathan cut it out on the way to the tournament to increase my chances of winning. That did not work.

Round 1BorgWill HawkinsFL (-100)
Hawk's amazing Borg deck is based on one we saw at DragonCon 2012 piloted by the great Eric Robinette. Hawk does a great job of building up his forces with cool events like Quintessence and Energize. I packed about 8 event destruction cards in my deck just for this deck as I knew that he would be playing it - and none of them worked. I got several dilemmas overcome beneath the Vendarite mission but thanks to several distracting factors I failed to notice Will's Transport Crash Survivors until after I had announced a mission attempt there with five personnel while there were five dilemmas overcome beneath it. Did I mention he had already assimilated most of my personnel? I couldn't recover from my TCS-related brain fart and Hawk cruised to the win, but only after time was called scoring his final points on his final turn of the game. Bleah.

Round 2VoyagerMikey Camp JRFL (-30)
This makes two tournaments in a row where I've lost to Mikey's Voyager-based deck. I taught Mikey how to play many years ago and he has matured into a fine young mine and a great player now. He's getting really good and I'm proud of him. This was a well played game until - once again facing many distractions - I inadvertently played a space dilemma at one of his planet missions. Oof! Of course, I can't compliment him too much as Mikey did the same thing in a game earlier in the tournament. Still, he got the full win this time so good for him!

Round 3CardassianMike Camp SrMW (+25)
Mike got terrible draws as did I and we both spent a lot of the early turns just drawing cards looking for the right personnel. I finally got a crew out attempting missions and got a quick completion at my GQ mission. Now I can discard the top card of my deck to report DOM personnel to my DOM ship! Woot! Mike stops me cold at a planet and sends over his Cardassian-based capture posse. He captures five guys in turn! But it even with Labor Camp, it isn't enough to score him enough points before time is called and I eke out my first league win to date - a MW. Lame.

Closing Thoughts
League is going to be fun, if I can just find a deck that is clever and cut throat at the same time.
