KlingonPersistence of Qo'nos
Introduction
It's our first league event for 2014!

Round 1DS9Nathan MiracleFL (-40)
I struggled mightily to get a mission completed against Nathan, who had been preparing for this deck since he saw me playing it in Atlanta, Ga. a few weeks ago. His Chula based dilemma pile and use of Holding Cell to lock up Gowron was a real thorn in my side. Meanwhile, my persistent dilemma pile was really letting me down. My interrupts - The Promise and Bridge Officer's Test - did nothing in this game as his random stops from Chula were the real problem. I got Self-Replicating Roadblock into play on my second mission to mitigate the power of Chula the Game, but by then my piss poor dilemma performance meant that Nathan was way ahead and used Deploy the Fleet to win the game after only having to solve two missions.

Round 2BajoranMikey Camp JRFW (+65)
Mikey has been playing some variation of this Bajoran deck or his Voyager deck in almost every tournament we've done for the past decade. DECADE! In this game, he is able to get some micro-teaming in as neither of us are use Transport Crash Survivors. But while my dilemmas don't stop him all that often, I'm able to quickly race through his dilemmas and make fast solves thanks to high Klingon Strength and The Promise helping me out.

Round 3FerengiAlex PauleyFW (+50)
Alex was playing Ferengi so I was suitably impressed! Her game was great and I was really sweating it. I used Mara to download Bridge Officer's Test several times and Alex was having none of it. At my final mission attempt she bluffed me into using the BOT with a well timed Telepathic Deception - I had neither Exobiology nor Telepathy so I had to use the BOT. But there were two dilemmas to go and she threatened to stop me with a Gorgon! Thankfully, her only discard was a five-cost ship and I had a copy of Kahless, The Unforgettable in my hand and was able to discard him to meet her cost and solve for the win. Great game, Alex!

Closing Thoughts
I so wished I had beaten Nathan and had a nice showdown with Greg's Romulans, but alas it was not meant to be. Not a bad start to our league and big thanks to Greg and Alex for driving up from Atlanta and Meg for a surprise showing!
