Going Red for Block |
Introduction |
Our second League event for 2014! |
|
Round 1 | | Mike Camp Sr | FW (+65) |
It's a block showdown between Legitimate Leader of the Empire (me) and Illegitimate Leader of the Empire (Mike) and the good guys were able to win. My dilemma combos proved the decisive point in this game as Data Has Some Issues gave Mike all sorts of trouble with his strongest Klingons usually targeting his weaker Klingons (and sometimes NA) for death. My cunning use of Remat Detonator and the Murasaki Effect also helped. |

|
Round 2 | | Nathan Miracle | FW (+35) |
My game against Nathan also came down to a key use of Remat Detonator and a slight delay from a Murasaki Effect. Nathan used some redshirting of dilemmas early on to clear out Bajor for HQ: Secure Homeworld in his Deep Space Nine deck, but thankfully I was able to rob him of Leadership with Remat Detonator. And by the time he got another Leadership personnel in play I was close enough to the win to pull it out. If he had gotten one more turn, it would have been a different outcome. I credit my seeding of a Space-borne Entity in the Gamma Quadrant for helping delay him one last turn as it easily blasted his runabout to pieces. |

Round 3 | | Mikey Camp JR | FW (+40) |
Mikey has a cool Maquis deck I built for him with the ability to report on planets and 4 copies of Search for Weapons! He forgets to use You Could Be Invaluable several times and I think it really helps me. My dilemma combos asking for lots of Treachery after Back Room Dealings are good against him and I even get a chance to download Duras into play with A Good Day to Lie and kill off Cal Hudson after he solves his first mission. I cruise through his dilemmas with relative ease for the win. |

Closing Thoughts |
Block is still our preferred way to play 1E, with Big Mike getting a very dramatic win against Nathan in Round 3 at a final score of 100 - 90! |
