Tournament Report - 1E |

Introduction |
I fully intended to build a whole new Borg deck, with They Will Be Coming, but I failed to get that deck together in time. So instead, I made some minor modifications to my Illegitimate Leader of the Empire deck and ran with it. |

Round 1 | | Scott Baughman | FW (+20)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
I tested my deck out against Scott the previous night, so he knows which dilemma combos to avoid. Too bad, because when he went in blind he lost seven guys in one attempt. Still, my space combos help to damage his ships, slowing him down considerably. Scott gets lucky by having Duras fall for Male's Love Interest right before a dilemma requiring Law. As much as my dilemmas are hindering him, I'm wasting time going to pick up my leader. In the end, the Kazon just aren't fast enough to match up to Continuing Mission's drawing power, and I squeak out a win. |
Nathan and I did some testing the night before and while I was able to get some good free reports, I just can't draw enough cards to keep up with his speed using Continuing Mission. I also live in fear of You Are a Monument - but I didn't see it in this game. I was able to solve some missions fairly quickly and even recovered from several mass deaths via Isomagnetic Disintegrator. I need one turn to win the game (my final mission - Kazon Conference - has no dilemmas left and I only need 30 points to win!) but Nathan blows past three dilemmas at his final mission as well. Curse you universal female Klingons and your scoffing at Matriarchal Society! |
|
Round 2 | | Mike Camp Sr | FW (+60) |
Legitimate Leader versus Illegitimate Leader! We vie for control of the Klingon Empire! Mike gets an attempt on turn two, so I feel like I'm behind the 8-ball... until he hits Subspace Shockwave with no Navigation. Mike spends a while recouping, my many universal personnel pass his Arsenal dilemmas. In the end, I just have the right stuff for Mike's dilemmas, and I get to pull off the win. |

Round 3 | | Mikey Camp JR | FW (+100) |
We do some quick math and realize the standings are pretty much already set. I will win the tournament, and Mikey will be last, so we go ahead and call it a night. |

Closing Thoughts |
Despite running an almost-Block deck, I never felt hampered in the tournament. Continuing Mission is no joke. |
