CardassianDS9IDIC Draft - Mutual Assured Destruction
Introduction
I did really well on drafting the last time we had Online IDIC, but this time I just could not get ahold of anything. Certainly, and card I passed up would not be in the packs when it came back around. I found out afterwards that my two HQs were shared by the other two people in my pod. Meaning, I was fighting with Mike for the DS9 cards and with Kris for the Cardassian ones.

Round 1RomulanTed ReebelFL (-35)View opponent's Report

I got out early and started attempting my planet mission well before Ted. His first dilemma throw killed three of my people, but I happened to have both ETUs in play already, so it hurt less than it should have. Eventually, I worked to get 5 dilemmas under the mission, which was just enough as I could solve it with 5, but I made a decision that would cost me in the end. I left it unsolved so that Ted could not get those solid dilemmas back and played a second ship so that moving between two missions and the HQ in a single turn was quite easy.

But space turned out to be much harder. ted had plenty more solid dilemmas there and when I finally did solve it, he played the key card of the game Surprise Amity, which stopped my crew and gave him one more turn to win. And he made good use of it!

Round 2DominionDS9Michael Van BreemenFW (+30)

This game worked the opposite of the first, with me winning by just a turn. I remember going to Space first, because I just happened to draw the skills for that, and Mike had two copies of In Development to shut me out twice there, but I still solved and gave them back to him. This actually worked for me because, while he did get one at the planet to shut me out easily, the other didn't come up when he needed it and I attempted with too little after that to let it be played.

I actually made a couple of decent moves by remembering that Kilana was the only copy of a few skills he had and then playing lead off dilemmas that would stop her so that he would fail the follow-up. This managed to let me keep him in space (his second mission) for a while with few dilemmas going under. Finally, on his final turn he had five under the mission and let me draw nada. I used the dilemma manipulation in my deck to find one dilemma and shut that group out and then he had to attempt with everyone left, as the other crew was quite poor. This gave me 4 to draw and they all played.

Like with the first game, I was set up for a win if I could hold my opponent out one more turn, but this time I actually pulled it off.

Round 3KlingonTNGDaniel MattesonFL (-70)

This game was hilarious. I had won a single game and lost one, but so had Dan Matty. The difference being that he lost his one game to the guy who would go on to win the event.

While I brought a crappy stack of cards pulled together from whatever I could draft, Dan brought a legitimate 2E deck that could hold it's own in any event. He had dilemma cheating, skill gaining, attribute gaining, unstopping people, the works! He even had a Kirk to nuke dilemmas! This game was over so quick I'm not entirely certain it happened.

Round 4ByeBY (0)
Luckily, I got the bye after that. This deck needed a break. Unfortunately for me, I had finally figured out what cards to cut at this point.

Closing Thoughts
I always like IDIC and I'll definitely sign up for the next one run online (though I'm really hoping for some local action. Already signed up for the US Nationals one).
