Introduction

I did not spend a lot of time getting a deck ready. Instead, I chose a deck that was together, changed two cards. Chose a pile that was together, cut a card, and called it good.

Round 1Justin FordFW (+65)

Justin was playing a very solid TOS build, which didn't seem all that different from my own TOS (Sonsteby based) deck. Though he was running Aid Legendary Civilization.

Justin took off to a hell of a lead, after getting through a Where No One Has Gone Before unscathed and then losing no turns to Greater Needs by playing a second ship. But suddenly things changed my way after he made the mistake of playing Rogue Borg Ambush on my, when I had a gun in the attempt, and then I managed to cheat through Shocking Betrayal by choosing to stop and then unstopping my dude with all the mission skills (Tuvok).

That gave me two turns in a single turn and meant we were suddenly on my final mission, and I had the range to do an initial attempt on the same turn I had finished two.

Round 2Huong VanMW (+30)

Huong had my Terok Nor deck, but he wouldn't take my advice and sit people out of the attempt to use Ruling Council to the best effect. He also failed Gomtuu Shock Wave at every opportunity and only got through space by sheer attrition.

Still, it was coming down to a close thing. He had a few under his first planet and enough weenies in play to go to a second planet in one turn. All he really needed to do is get to know the deck a little better. Dukat nuking my dilemma pile aiding events would have been clutch, and of course actually using ruling council.

Overall, Huong through exactly the right amount of dilemmas to stop each of my attempts without allowing the opportunity to cheat through, save for the one planet where I got a one shot solve.

Round 3Matthew McClainFW (+65)

Matt was playing a deck that was much better than mine. But luckily, I had played against it a few times, while he was unaware of a few of Voyager's choice cheats.

Matt solved a mission first, which was really sad considering that I was playing Voyager and his missions were all worth more points. My first go at Caretaker's saw me fail a Gomtuu Shockwave, and I opted to go to two planet missions before returning with the Diplomacy. I was fortunate in that he did eventually find a Necessary Execution... at my 3rd planet mission (solved last).

Closing Thoughts
Fun tournament with all close games, and now just one more play with Voyager to get the badge...
