Tournament Report - 1E - Online Event
2016-10-07 - 12:00 AM
Introduction
My deck this tournament is the Federation version of the idea I had for the last event -- CF Feds instead of Kli. Basically just get a ship and a guy out for free each turn at Camp Khitomer, use the Excelsiors to park at his space missions with Quantum Fissure. Draws from Duck Blind (Kathleen & DH for General Chang to my Husnock outpost) & New Arrivals. Chang also giving me the first turn To Be or not to Be - especially great for Quantum Fissure/Conundrums. A couple Vulcan Mindmelds to help with solving (given my numerous Vulcans) and Incoming Message: Attack Authorization for some unexpected battling.

Round 1:
Fed Flagship: Relaunched / Protect Historic Encounter
One area I know that I could improve in my 1E play is not letting myself get so fixated on missions that I'm able to steal -- this has cost me tournament games in the past, and my determination to snatch victory in the Battle of Sector 001 definitely slowed me down tremendously in this game -- kind of a dick move on my part to steal a mission in round 1 that the mission becomes tournament legal, but it did make for an interesting game, to say the least.
He'd parked Starbase 247 there, and with my Quantum Fissure as the final dilemma, I'd have to sneak it at just the right moment (when his Defiant & Enterprise weren't home).
I was able to get Starship Excelsior there to block his solving it pretty early on, then just needed to wait for my moment. The Nexus complicated this, but thankfully broke the right way for me so as to clear out his ships for my turn and not the other way around,
He was able to use Amargosa to make the Nexus take another pass across the spaceline again (I think it hit every mission twice except for the last one, so it was a long-standing irritant, fortunately I was able to dodge it by going back to Camp Khitomer a couple times).
My dilemmas were surprisingly effective at preventing his Feds from getting much done, dead end, scow, Nexus, whale probe & QF locking him out of any solves. He was able to get the Phoenix launched for 10 points, but I was able to make use of his temporal vortex to send someone back in time and got Attack Authorization to blast the Phoenix, which was pretty amusing, I thought (he was annoyed as he'd opted not play Anjj on the prior turn).
After eventually getting the timing right & stealing Battle for Sector 001 for 50 (Reunite Legends doesn't say it has to be *my* mission), depositing Soran in the Nexus, I quickly went from 0 to 70. I failed my first attempt at a planet mission, lacking the strength for Chula: The Dice, but was able to GTT for Mr Sisko on my turn to fool-proof the AT for the next turn for the FW.
