Speedy Feds...no cadets allowed! |
Introduction |
I was torn between three different decks for this event. I was weighing options between Maquis, DS9 Vastly Outnumbered, or Speedy TNG (no cadets) were my 3 top choices. With the new emphasis on VP's (4 for a FW, 3 for a MW), I chose TNG since I did not want to get MW's. I was sad that Maquis did not get represented, I thought for sure Joel Bray was going to play them. Chairman Charlie was present and I hope we get to keep him for a long time! He was even kind enough to buy subs for the whole crew. Props to Dan H. for running a stellar event, and somehow I squeezed into 3rd with 3 FW's, 1ML, and 1 FL. |

Round 1 | | Matt Kirk | FW (+35)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
This was close. Matt had some bad luck with the dilemma pile, and some more bad luck finding Harry Kim (or a dude with programming). While he took the FL, Matt gets the FW in real life. His new girlfriend attended and they look very happy together. I wish them the best!!! |
Weenies weenies and more weenies. I committed to IAD early, but spent several turns digging for a Programming. Chris played a solid game, and picked up the win after I foolishly depended on my one wall to stop him when he had To Boldly Go on the table. |
|
Round 2 | | Dan Hamman | FL (-30) |
A gentleman and scholar, Dan was running an amazing Voyager Equinox deck. My dilemma pile was useless against his crew, and it didn't surprise me that Dan won it all. |
|
|
Round 3 | | James Floyd | ML (-10) |
I made a HUGE mistake that I think cost me the game. He Secret ID Picard and all I had to do was grab Old man Riker and complete the mission. I thought Morgan Bateson, a CAPTAIN in STARFLEET was an officer...evidently not though. James played very well and his Tragic Turn pile was truly unique. |

|
Round 4 | | Carlos Maya | FW (+30) |
Of course we would be paired against each other...Carlos had some bad dilemma luck, and I had some very good dilemma luck. Carlos was really busy the week before so he unfortunately was not at his best, but I saw the fire in his eye and he will be back strong next tourney! |

Round 5 | | Bryan Kopaska | FW (+60) |
Bryan was running the "bad movie" 70's TOS crew. He made an error on the last dilemma set and I sailed through for a 100-40 win. Thanks to Dan who ran an amazing event with lots of great prize support. I will have to win my own regional to get that 1st round Continentals bye. |
