Introduction |
My deck was a DQ/Blood Oath Klingons and Resistance/Chamber Bajorans. Takes a bit long to get going, but pretty neat when it does. |

Round 1 | | Jon Carter | FL (-100)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
vs pfti:
I made a mistake in deckbuilding: I marked a combo as "Planet" when it was really "Space", which I only realised when that planet was attempted. Would have been tough even if I'd noticed it at the beginning of the game, as pfti was playing with 4 Planets...
Teach me to make combos in a hurry.
I seeded my DS9 first, which didn't really hinder his DS9 use. His going first impeded mine though, as that lost me Morn draws for a significant amount of the game. Resistance was also not forthcoming, after I ran my hand down, I spent two turns Ops downloading Shakaar and Kira. Then I could get the Espionage draw engines going. Towards the end of the game I got Traveler and Surprise Party out.
Pfti naturally got to attempting first, and choosing to stop for Edo Probe stopped his Insurrection attempt. Lack Of Preparation at Gunrunning took him down to -4, having gained 6 from Dabo. Eventually he managed to clear out Purchase Moon, and almost solved it for 10 points only to discover a lack of Gold Pressed Latinum there, fortunately for him.
After Collect Metaphasic Particles was solved, Shakaar, Kira, Furel and Morn (with Shakaar and War Room Strength bonuses) took out pfti's Morn (with Ferengi Disruptor Rifle and Metaphasic Particles Strenght bonuses). On the way to the bar, I also killed his Guest Quarters and Promenade Shops visitors.
I cleared out the dilemmas under Bajor, losing a few to Horta and Hanonian Land Eel. This lost the Treachery I needed to solve the mission.
Pfti was already at 107 points by this time, but he'd only solved Planet missions.
Bribery stopped the Hazardous Duty point loss for pfti. God had killed a lot of his people on a ship at Geological Survey, and stranded two or three people there. The Blood Oath gang destroyed three ships at Insurrrection, then the Observatory. This left one lonely ship at DS9, with no-one to staff it, and a few people at the homeworld, who I couldn't get to.
I moved the Bajoran Warship to Refuse Immigration and attempted that. Arsenal Divided stopped three people, then Ankari Spirits took out two more, and the Spirits killed my staffing for the Warship so it was stuck there, it couldn't even try to complete Cytherians.
The Voq'Leng folk tried to Study Interstellar Colony. A Fast Ship killed Morak, then Unscientific Method killed Kar'meth, leaving no Science to pass Scientific Method.
Pfti then had garnered enough folk to pass Secure Homeworld, taking him to 143.
Crisis/Distracted/God worked very well, it helped that he'd neglected to send Kukalaka down in the attempt.
Common Thief/Vole Infestation/Emergent Life-Form killed a choice personnel, but this was the one I'd mis-labelled Planet and didn't pay attention when seeding.
Edo/Distracted/Twisted worked all right for slowing down.
Hazardous/Kelvan/Fast Ship worked well, without really paying a lot of attention, I took out some skills he needed to solve the mission for a few more turns.
Fun game. Felt a lot closer at the end of the game than I thought it would be at the beginning, even though the final score definitely wouldn't have surprised me if I'd found it out at the beginning of the game.
Final score: him 143, me 0. |
I download my ferenghi
He plays kang downloads kor blood oaths and I sin two quadrants
HE masakas
I attempt planet misseded open I have no latnum
Saved up, baught a planet then went to insurection
I quickly redshirt through Illicit explosives
Got my supercrew killed by leaving them on the ship (stupid teady bearleft on ship) maybe they would have made it with insurrection bonus but I forgot to check
So I sent people to die for dabo until I could secure my homeworld
Meanwhile my dilemma combos worked as planed and got kept things from happening. |

Round 2 | | snoova | FW (+35) |
Round 2: vs Snoova.
During the seed phase I saw something that looked very similar to the maH nLv deck I played a few tourneys ago, so I was expecting to fare very very badly in this game.
I went first and had a reasonable start: Kai Winn, Gantt, and Bajoran Wormhole from hand, Morn Ops DL'd as card play, Kang DH'd, then the other Baj Wormhole, the Treaty and Blood Oath as downloads.
Snoova also got a good (not entirely unexpected) start, already with 2 Mission Specialists he got Support Personnel, Kerla and Gorkon, and flipped a Spacedoor to get the [CF] [Univ] ship, IKC K'Tinga, DLing Wo'teln. D'Ghor played for free and TMW grabbed Mr R'Mor. In place of the draw, a Q the Ref was downloaded.
My second turn, I could only play Jadzia Dax, but didn't take advantage of the Blood Oath download just yet. Now with Morn at Quark's, I could draw more.
My third turn, I played Shakaar, Kar'meth and The Emissary, and now with 2 Resistance personnel in play I could get the Espionage cycle going. With the Plans discard, I downloaded the Gr'oth then Capt. Koloth.
My next turn, I put The Traveler Transcendence into play, and with the Plans discard grabbed the Lukara.
Because I was spreading the Blood Oath downloads around, I don't think that that errata would have changed my side of the game very much.
My next turn I landed a Surprise Party on the table. I think my draw engines worked out pretty well this game.
At this point I used my Shrine ability to pitch another Traveler to try and get something useful. This is the only time I used the Shrine ability this game. This got me Ready Room Door and then a protected Captain's Log, and Espionage got me Koloth then Batleth.
At this point Snoova was ready to start attempting missions. At Fever Emergency he encountered an Edo Probe, and decided not to risk doing that mission yet. That mission remained forgotten for the rest of the game.
My turn again, and I played a Voq'leng staffer, Furel, Teero, and a Ref card for free, and a Warship as card play. This time I grabbed the remaining Kor and Ning'tao with the Espionage draws.
Snoova tried attempting another mission, and sent all his folk down. A Crisis at Distress Mission stopped him for another turn. The Lukara and Ning'tao (with matching commanders, Captain's Log and DDP) flew past Seek Life-Form (with a Wo'teln'd Outpost) and reached Distress Mission, blowing up the empty Kla'Diyus. There were still other ships in play on his side, personnel too, so it was more inconvenient than tragic.
This time I downloaded Espionage Bajoran on Cardassian to the homeworld. I didn't have enough Engineer present to discard Duonetic Field Generator, so two folk were killed by Horta that turn. Kai Winn was there, so I could pass Executive Authorization. One of my Treachery personnel had been killed by the Horta, so I couldn't solve then.
Horta killed another person at the end of my next turn, then I realized I actually did have three Engineer in the Alpha Quadrant. I'd remembered Morn on DS9, and the Engineer who was still clinging to life in the Away Team, but Jadzia Dax had kinda got buried at the outpost. Fortunately, the Bajoran Engineer survived that random selection, and I rescued that Away Team next turn. a Regenerate at the same time also helped.
Now Snoova was ready to face the Crisis at Distress Mission. Distracted By Thoughts Of Home was followed by God, and Anya and Chancellor Gorkon got everyone through. A bunch of people, most of them Klingon, easily got through the Honor and Strength requirements, and an Honor Mission Specialist meant that 40 points were earned.
I played Barzan Wormhole, Morak and Kira Nerys for free, Kohlar as my card play, then pitched a QTR to Masaka myself. This gave me some more useful cards, so I played Teero and my last RRD for free too. I gave Wormhole Negotiations a shot. Unscientific Method killed Surmak Ren, Subspace Shock Wave damaged the Groth and killed Ch'regha and Nirok.
Snoova played HQ Secure Homeworld and attempted to secure Qo'nos. After some hesitation at Edo Probe, he decided to press forward. I mentioned at the last round the careless 3 Space combos. He was playing with 4 planets, and this Edo Probe combo was the Space combo. 30 more points, +5 for AMS. Current score: 75-0. He moved across to his outpost mission and redshirted, losing 10 points to Lack Of Preparation. Organising another crew, he tried again, getting past Lack Of Preparation. The Clown : Bitter Medicine hit Navigation. There was then a question about whether Beverly and Will would cure Subspace Shock Wave or not: I thought that the Glossary could be read both ways, but he concluded that they wouldn't. The Vattle Cruiser was damaged, and Vekma and Anya died. Bad vibrations, man.
I played Jaro Essa for free, Masaka Transformations as card play, then Gantt for free. With the skills now on Bajor to solve it, I went ahead and did that, scoring 35 points.
It was somewhere around here that Snoova inadvertantly muted himself. I moved the Lukara and Ning'tao to blow up the damaged (and well-staffed) Battle Cruiser. The same as had just been attempting. This may just have been the deciding move of the game.
I moved across and attempted Relocate Settlers. Denevan Neural Parasites killed 7 out of 13 people (real shame the Bat'leth doesn't count for that). Armus killed another, and I Hate You stopped the rest. Didn't have Music, but didn't have Youth either. The Bajoran Warship moved from the homeworld to Relocate Settlers, and Gantt, The Emissary and a couple of Rinnaks dealt with that last dilemma. I avoided solving that turn so I didn't score more than 50 in a turn.
Snoova moved some people around ready to maH nLv the next turn.
I Regenerated then pitched a QTR to Masaka myself, played a couple of folks for free, and moved Kira across to solve Relocate Settlers Of Catan. 65 points each. I redshirted (well, 4 people) Wormhole Negotiations (I didn't want to solve it), and found Navigational Hazards. As fate would have it, Navigation was in one crew, and Stellar Cartography in the other.
Snoova played his maH nLv. Needing Exobiology, Astrophysics and Engineer, he retrieved 3 Exo and one Engineer: all the Astro was languishing in the discard pile. With the luck of the draw, he hadn't pulled any of his Tents with which to retrieve a Regenerate.
I played Surmak Ren for free to The Emissary, and bundled everyone together into a super-crew. Kira Nerys and Kar'meth piloted around the Navigational Hazards, and the first 4 Honor pulled from the crew to solve the mission were Li Nalas, B'Elanna Daughter of Miral and Bareil antos, Esteemed Vedek.
Final score: Full Win to me, 110-65. A most enjoyable game, good to play someone with a deck of a similar speed. |

Round 3 | | Danny Nuttall | FL (-70) |
vs nuttersuclan
The deck got a bit of a slow start: a Resistance, a DQ Staff, a Bajoran Wormhole and Ready Room Door made a nice first play, but with the Morn download and not drawing any cards with that, there wasn't much useful left in hand (Where No Man and an Espionage). A couple of turns later I had the second Resistance out, so I could start doing the Espionage Shuffle.
Danny redshirted an Analyse Radiation with a couple of people on Injector Assembly One. Common Thief killed Admiral Hayes, leaving Pa'rena unable to continue. Danny correctly guessed that the next dilemma would be Vole Infestation, so his next turn with more people on the Assembly, he revealed Vole Infestation and Lightner downloaded the Rifle to discard it. However, that didn't really make a difference as Emergent Life-Form still hit that ship. Without a Holodeck, it was uncurable. I started moving it towards my end of the spaceline, but after it had moved he rescued the crew with the Enterprise E.
Danny played Geordi, and used Ocular Implants to look at the first dilemma of the next mission. It was Edo Probe.
I played Gantt (now able to fly the Warship), Koloth (now able to use Blood Oath) and Ready Room door (now I had DDP and Captain's Log on the table). I converted a draw into a Lukara, and moved it to Bajor.
Danny decided to charge through the Edo Probe. His small crew couldn't get through Personal Duty, so he lost the points.
I played Kira to Ops, and Bareil and Kor to the Chamber, and downloaded the Ning'tao. I moved the Lukara and Ning'tao more towards the Injector Assembly. Danny was staffing it, moving it, then unstaffing it during his turns.
Personal Duty stopped Worf, allowing Thomas McClure to continue, but Maglock stopped the Li'seria crew. Data, Ru'afo and william T. on the Enterprise passed Maglock, and Analyse Radiation was solved for another 25 points, current score 45-0.
I played Jaro Essa and Rinnak Pire, and with my Espionage play I downloaded Jadzia Dax and the Gr'oth, and downloaded Captain Koloth. The Ning'tao and Lukara reached the Li'seria, and blew it up, along with Worf, Thomas McClure, Sam'po and Ayala. Refuse Immigration was Kobayashi'd, so I moved all my Bajorans along to Relocate Settlers and attempted.
Forsaken took Jaro Essa to the bottom of my deck (should probably have moved Kai Winn and Teero as I had 2 Kai Winns in my hand at this point), but had the Treachery and Cunning to get through New Essentialists. Combo Scow sent Kai Winn to the other end of the spaceline, to Earth (she's kinda unlikely to be killed there), and at this point I didn't have 2 Engineer present to tow the Scow.
Geordi glanced at Hazardous Duty under Insurrection, then sent Picard, Riker and Troi to attempt. The Kelvans showed their force by killing Jean-Luc, then Riker realised that a fast ship would have been nice, when he found himself on top of the discard pile. Ru'afo beamed down onto Earth and killed Kai Winn. The Injector Assembly docked at the Federation Outpost. Shakaar and another Kai Winn showed up to throw a surprise party, then Kira solved Relocate Settlers. With the Injector Assembly docked, the Lukara and Ning'tao did not continue their trek across the Briar Patch.
With Insurrection cleared out, Collect Metaphasic Particles was completed. 80-30. Geordi had peeked at Earth, revealing a Crisis, and a Son'a Battleship was moved over to attempt. Deanna Troi was left in charge of the spaceship. Distracted By Thoughts Of God did their thing and Deanna and the Battleship turned into space debris. The Enterprise, on the extra turn granted by Collect Metaphasic Particles, swooped in to secure the homeworld, bringing Nuttersuclan to 120 points and victory.
The Traveler never showed up, and Surprise Party showed up late to the party. Morn and Where No Man helped, though, and the Espionage cycling got off the ground pretty quickly. I think only one DQ Klingon made it into play, so that aspect suffered a little, as did the Blood Oath faction mostly chasing the enemy ships. At least they blew one up.
Fun game.
Final score: nuttersuclan 120, me 30. |

Round 4 | | Adam Warpinski | FW (+70) |
vs Warpaw:
When I saw 5 Planet missions and 1 Space mission, I was worried, because of the deck error that I have noted previously.
Fortunately, this was mitigated slightly by a shared mission: Liberation. Seeded one of the Space combinations under there. That and Warpaw's 4-card combo under there made that mission dangerous. Fortunately, my deck was completely incapable of solving that mission anyway, so it didn't matter to me...
My deck doesn't start with a lot of cards, it relies more on drawing and playing a lot. Warpaw's deck started with quite a lot of folk, so I was kinda worried about being left way behind.
My opening hand let me play one Resistance (Li) and 2 Doorways (Barzan, RRD). I grabbed Kang and Morn, but I was pretty worried about having the Voq'leng at the shared Array, with a ship that could damage it sitting there at a Kazon Outpost, and I had no-one on the Voq'leng. Couldn't do anything about it then (apart from download a DQ Klingon instead of Kang), so I just left it there. Kang and Morn were too important. Next turn I played Gantt and Surmak Ren, so could get the Espionage Shuffle going. My third turn I didn't have any free plays, but I did get to play Kohlar, MC of the Voq'leng (DDP, Captain's Log). It didn't quite get tot he Alpha Quadrant that turn, but could the next. Then Warpaw played a Kazon Warship from hand, and came over and damaged it. Then I got it to the Alpha Quadrant, to my conveniently-located outpost. My next turn I docked the ship to get the repairs going, and also got the Blood Oath downloads working.
My turn after that, with my hand filling up with not-currently-useful cards, I played Masaka Transformations as my card play, and got more useful things. And 2 Bajoran Wormholes. Kai Winn was probably the most useful, but I didn't take advantage of her download until next turn.
A few turns later, an armada featuring the Blood Oath ships and Voq'leng with Matching Commanders, and a Bajoran Warship with Rinnak Pire, moved into the Delta Quadrant. My hand was filling up with DQ Klingons I couldn't play, and I really didn't want to risk losing that play engine. I moved the Warship over to Study Interstellar Colony and attempted.
Ankari Spirits. Li Nalas, Blood Oath Jadzia, and Bareil Antos, Esteemed Vedek had the necessary Honor, and there were plenty of folks left to finish supplying the Integrity. Personal Duty stopped a bunch of people, then Friendly Fire killed Jaro Essa.
While I was waiting for Friendly Fire to count down, I played more Klingon Deltas.
At this point Warpaw felt confident enough to attempt a mission. He decided to plough on through Edo Probe, but then his folk were Distracted By Thoughts Of Home and they couldn't get past Twisted. First points scored: -10.
I played Klingon B'Elanna, Ranjen to the Shrine, and Freighter to the Docking Ports, and conducted a service the only time this entire game. Although I had the skills on the Warship, I moved the Voq'leng across and solved Study Interstellar Colony, 35 points. I moved my fleet back to the Alpha Quadrant.
Warpaw sent four people to resume his mission attempt. Two of them were Seska and Seven, who got past Twisted. The Away Team then got past a self-seeded Barclay's, bringing him back to 0, then he found the skills and the strength to Hunt Alien.
I then tried Wormhole Negotiations with the Voq'leng crew plus Jadzia. Just in case of a Lack Of Prep. Ankari Spirits again, so obviously enough Honor to pass, and also enough Integrity. Personal Duty/Friendly Fire killed Morak. My Warship crew then attempted Relocate Settlers. I had plenty of Integrity to pass Alien Parasites, and then God. Denevan Neural Pancakes then killed 5 of the 10 attempting folk. I didn't have the right combination of personnel there then, but I put the Kira I played that turn on the Bajoran Freighter, picked up Rinnak Pire from the Headquarters, and moved her to the mission for the solve. 65 points to 30.
I decided to try Refuse Immigration, but I didn't want to chance losing 10 points to Edo Probe.
Warpaw attempted another mission. Crisis stopped him.
I had to wait another turn for Friendly Fire.
Warpaw passed Crisis, then Distracted By Thoughts Of Home meant that God could blow up his warship.
B'Elanna, Jadzia, Ch'Regha and Kohlar provided the Honor to pass Wormhole Negotiations for the win.
Final score: 110-30. |
