Introduction

Round 1RomulanDaniel MattesonFL (-60)View opponent's Report
Round 1 - vs OKCoyote: We both spent a long time building up our forces. I got lucky and had my 3 facilities right next to each other. I got Process Awe and Duck Blind going pretty early. I was thinking about stealing his Raid Ancient Burial Site, but I realised I don't actually seem to have Treachery in the deck. I made a miscalculation and tried playing Holodeck Door (for a hologram) and AMS on the same turn, tripping General Quarters. Should have played the Enterprise instead at that point. I used Process Awe a few times, then the Husnock Ship got blown up (I rescued most of the folk, though). I attempted first, at Earth with Secure Homeworld. I had War Room and Lower Decks in play, and 9 people in the Away Team. Founder Secret was first. Linda Larson, Data, Simon Tarses, Chris Hobson, Taurik, Deanna Troi TNG, Sito Jaxa, Andrea Brand and Spock aced that. Fractured Time was next, and no-one disappeared. A Fast Ship was last, taking away Deanna (my only Honor around, at this point). Mr Coyote attempted next at Compromised Mission. Gomtuu Shock Wave was passed, but Clown: Bitter Medicine/Subspace Shock Wave damaged the D'Deridex. I played Lopez and got my 40 points. Mr Coyote solved Compromised Mission with Mission Specialists for 50 points, and he had 10 points already from Getting Under Your Skin draws. I head to Automated Repair Station: out of the way from his ships. Forsaken took 2 Lopezes below the deck, Ankari Spirits killed Simon Tarses and Dexter Remmick. My venerable opponent got his Mercenary Ship to an out-of-the-way planet and attempted. Dal'Rok killed Tallera, Cardassian Processing grabbed Alidar Jarok. In the other half of the spaceline, his Husnock Ship's crew attempted Raid Ancient Burial Site. Distracted By God blew up the ship, with no other ship in easy reach. Ankari Spirits killed Sito Jaxa and Darian Wallace. I reattempt Repair Station, but I was short on Security for Friendly Fire. Prot and Spock were killed by the Spirits, and I redshirt at Hunt For DNA Program. I'd put most people on the Outpost. First up was Now Would Be A Good Time: Andrea Brand beamed them back up. I wasn't stopped, but I was short a Biology. Next turn I could play a Biology for DNA Program's requirements, and Friendly Fire would be gone. With Distracted By Thoughts Of Home newly gone, and his Mercenary Ship back at the Burial Site, Mr Coyote reattempted at the Burial Site. Now Would Be A Good Time was under there, Will Riker was on the ship, beaming them back up. They beamed back down, completing the mission for 50 points with 2 Mission Specialists, and the win. Final score: OKCoyote 115, me 40.

Round 2 - vs The Mad Vulcan Mr Vulcan was playing TNG Klingons, with a smattering of Husnock and Mercenaries. We shared one mission: Observe Stellar Rebirth. My Surprise Party was in my opening hand, which helped, and Duck Blind was working fairly early, too. Played some AMS early on, and a bunch of free plays with the HQ and the Warp Core cards. Mr Vulcan's overwhelming forces blew up my Fed Outpost fairly early. Mr Vulcan attempted first, at Reported Activity. Crowded Bar got us both draws, and stopped 7 of his 9 people. I let the 2 Non-Aligneds continue, which they couldn't. A few other people joined those two and failed to pass Founder Secret. I got to attempting over at Study Rare Phenomenon. Spock, Jean-Luc Picard and a bunch of other mooks easily passed Gomtuu Shock Wave. Next up was Forsaken, sending the Lopez twins to the customary positions at the bottom of the deck. Finally was obviously Ankari Spirits, which I failed and couldn't cure. TMV reattempted with 9 sufficiently strong people to pass Founder Secret and not get hit by Fractured Time. Mission Specialists took him to 50 points. He moved over to attempt the shared mission. War Games was passed, Forsaken took a couple of folk to the bottom of the deck, Personal Duty did its thing, Gomtuu Shock Wave damaged and moved the ship. A couple more people died with the Spirits, but I had enough Mission Specialists out to solve for 50. TMV moved around and passed Gomtuu Shock Wave and Friendly Fire. He was without the Stellar Cartography to solve. I attempted Automated Repair Station, first up was Edo Probe, to which I sensibly abandoned the attempt. I got back to the Homeworld, beaming the Enterprise crew down. The Husnock Ship retreated to the Husnock Outpost, with Mission Specialists to solve Repair Station (just in case). TMV came to the homeworld and attacked the Enterprise, not destroying it but scoring 5 points with the Pagh and removing a tactic. He'd left a solving team at the shared mission, and got 45 more points, taking him to 100. Full Win to The Mad Vulcan, 100 points to my 50.

Bye Bye baby, baby good Bye... (You're welcome.)

Round 4StarfleetChristopher CoyleFW (+35)
Round 4 - vs StarTrekCCGGeek: We shared two missions: Earth came up towards the beginning of the missions phase, and Study Rare Phenomenon towards the end. My SRP was my last mission seeded, and as it had been so long since I played my last round, I didn't realise it would be a shared mission until that point. One advantage of shared missions: you can look a little closer at the action in Lackey, you don't have to be quite so zoomed out. Mr Geek was playing Starfleet. He only had 2 Space missions, one of which was shared. He had mostly one side of the table, I had mostly the other. Earth was about in the middle, just about on "my" side there was Study Rare Phenomenon, and at the far end of my side he put Gravesworld. On his side of Earth, there was my Automated Repair Station. Mr Coyle had been finding that Starfleet's range sucks, so that didn't help him at all. My first couple of turns, I played Assign Mission Specialists. And at this point I completely forgot about Continuing Mission draws. Oops. About the time I finally got the Holoprogram folk out was when I remembered those draws. That was about the time I got Duck Blind working, too. I didn't Process Awe that much. Surprise Party showed up too late to be worth playing. Mr Coyle attempted first. Distracted By Thoughts Of Home was first up. Then "God". Lower Decks with Brennan Scott, then Jonathan Archer Heroic Diplomat's special skill x2 got past that one. Last up was Now Would Be A Good Time. No-one was on the ship. I captured Jonathan Archer Heroic Diplomat. Chris's next turn he pitched a card to complete the mission, Free Orion Slaves for 35 points. On his next turn he moved across to Fissure Research and attempted. Edo Probe made him decide to not attempt that mission. He moved across to Save Stranded Crew. Crowded Bar got me a draw, Chris converted his into a download. He then downloaded the one card out of his hand, so that no-one would be stopped. Next up was Founder Secret, which was easily passed with 13 people and a downloaded Phaser Pistol. Last up, Fractured Time. Mwahahahaha. A D'Vela, Sean Hawkins, Malcolm Reed SAS, and Navaar were taken out-of-play. The mission was still solved, taking Mr Coyle to 65 points, and Edo Probe taken off Fissure Research. I sent an Away Team to try Hunt For DNA Program. I made sure to be able to pass Lack Of Prep. With an All-Consuming Evil on the table, I was a bit concerned about Armus dilemmas. Distracted By Thoughts Of God was first up. I had sent both ships away from that mission, so even though I didn't have the right Integrity, no ships were blown up. Good call. startrekccggeek returned to Fissure Research. Gomtuu Shock Wave was easily passed, as was the Clown-enhanced Subspace Shock Wave (good old 2e cheater sills). Alas, he was without Physics to solve the mission. Not sure what was left under DNA Program, I wanted to be careful about Now would Be A Good Time, but I had to return to Earth to pick up some folk. This took a couple of turns. After making it back, I attempted. The last dilemma under there was Founder Secret. I had War Room in play but not Lower Decks, and only made it to 68 Strength. Or something like that. Above 60, less than 70. My turn afterwards, I got Lower Decks into play and added a person to the attempt. I solved the mission with one Mission specialist, 60 points. Go Chris Hobson. I moved across one to the Husnock Outpost, and ended the turn. Chris decided to be extra brave and try his other Space mission, the shared one. War Games was first, and passed. The Arsenal Separated was next, and just about wasn't. I crew-shuffled, then sent the Enterprise along one to Explore Dyson Sphere. I prepared for Personal Duty/Friendly Fire and for Clown/Subspace Shock Wave. First up was The Arsenal: Separated. This took out Andrea Brand and left Jean-Luc Picard. Next up was Edo Probe. Having the solving crew on the Husnock Ship at the next mission, I was reasonably confident that I would be able to solve that turn. (I'm glad I didn't try the turn before!) Last up was Dead End. Man, I lucked out with that combination! The Enterprise crew couldn't solve the mission, I moved the Husnock over. Dr Leah Brahms, Gibson, Chris Hobson and Mendon were Mission Specialists providing Mission Specialist points, Linda Larson was just along to be the extra Engineer to solve. 55 points for Explore Dyson Sphere put my full score up to 115, but only 100 counted towards winning. But one planet, one space, that was enough. Full Win to me, 115(100) to Mr Coyle's 65. Good game.
